Yes i have opticoat on my car. Cost me about 400 for professional application. This includes the prep work (polishing the paint to remove any contaminents) then the application of the opti coat. My car is parked in the street and i only get to wash it about once a month but water still beads right off between washes.

I think all Mistus just have bad paint issues. My eclipse is the same way so I just plan to get it repainted properly eventually and once I get my EVO I'll plan for the same.

These are from my 08 GSR

Same thing, but also on the front of the car such as hood and fenders. Definitely gonna repaint the car, so it'll have a nice thick coat, and probably clear bra the front. Mud flaps might help to protect the rear doors.

Is there any fixes like small paint sticks to mask small scratches or dings?

For a long time since I read this thread, I thought all cars have water based paints so thin that you either wrap it or repaint it with aftermarket solvent based paint.

Then I went to Mercedes and Porsche dealerships a couple of weeks ago and realized that most of those cars' paint can remain brand new even after 50,000 or more miles.

Sorry for the shadows.
I had the same problem with my 09 GSR.. a couple motnhs after I got the car there was a very bad snow storm (for Portland anyways like 1 foot) and all the gravel made my rear wheel look even worse than that on my practically brand new car.

A few months later after finding out that a lot of other people were having the same problem i spoke to my local dealership and after talking with them a few times they repainted both sides and installed a clear skirt for me for free. Might be worth a shot talking to your local dealer although my car was still less than a year at the time, but I did play the "its happening to everyone and the paint sucks card" and they gave it.

I now have mudflaps on my 11 X and don't have any major problems in that area, just normal chips on the hood and front bumper from rocks/road debris.

Do we have to worry about rust in areas like this? Especially during the winter when they salt the roads?

Audi paint holds up better than any from what I've seen.

Same problem here on my 2009 Lancer GTS. Putting Rexpeed side Spats on helped a little. Paint problem still goes higher though. After a year the carbon fiber Spats look brand spanking new but the paint continues to suffer. Maybe my 2014 Evo will be better with this.

Guys,

Newbie here. This paint issue is still a problem even on the 2014 EVO? Does the aero kit really prevent this as I read 1 or two posts on? I would prefer this (despite the price) than I would mud flaps.

Thanks,
Kevin

The aero kit probably adds a tiny bit more of protection, but your best bet is mudflaps, some kind of wrap, or both.

that would be from a bad repair or vandalism.
