Failed Ignition Start

Not sure if you guys know what's up with the regular Lancers, but they have an issue where their cars struggle to start up. And no, it's not because of the weather or anything like that. (I also had a Lancer and it had the problem as well).

Anyway, today, I was driving around a bit. Came home. Then maybe about 30 minutes later was ready to go again. Car struggled to start up. Took 3 tries to get it going. This is the first time experiencing this.

I live in Los Angeles and the weather was a bit warm today. Could that have been why? To my knowledge, this is a normal problem when it's cold. But this was the first time, so maybe it was nothing..

Had my car a little under 2 months, has 3800+ miles on it. Never pushed it too hard, and I drive it daily.

So what's up? Ignore it?

I would say ignore it... I had the same thing happen the other day, it continued to crank but would NOT start, I sat there for a second and then tried again... Started right up. Also, the other day I went to start it and, it didn't do a damn thing... So I waited a second or two and then tried again, whatever. Either way, it doesn't bother me, as long as its not a repeat offense.

my 08 lancer had this issue.. it wouldn't start sometimes even when it wasn't cold. I know there is a TSB out to replays some relays, i dont know if it also applies to the EVO x but can't hurt to try?

I have had this on occasion as well. If the car doesnt start by the 4th or 5th attempt, I usually turn the whole car off and back on again to start it up. Always goes immediately on the second attempt. It makes me feel like they are trying to start the car in synchronous mode instead of batch. Or maybe the cam angle sensors arent working right sometimes. Who knows.

If I let off the key at the wrong time and it doesn't start then I will have to crank it a while the next time to get it to fire up. Which I suppose makes sense due to the excess fuel not bein burned off the on the previous cycle but this has happened a number of times.

Mine had a hard time cranking for the 1st time at 853miles on odometer. It took 3 trys to get it started. Hopefully MMNA recognizes this as a problem and takes care of it for us!!

Had this problem twice, it is embarrassing lol! Nothing to worry about though, it's a computer related issue with the car, a brain hiccup so to speak! Let it set there for a few seconds without the key in the ignition and then try starting it again! I do believe it's something to do with the computer and starter, when this occurred with me I let off the key to early and then tried starting it again (quickly), I think the computer couldn't recognize the issue quick enough to refresh it's self.

My car seems to crank extremely slow, since the day i bought it. Not sure if its normal or not, when i take it to dealer i am going to bring it up. It has never not started but it has started for a sec, then just died out.
