Marketing and history. They do not aggresively market their new upgraded products like Kia and Hyundai do

I bet their marketing budgets are small due to the lack of sales and poor history. Pair that with horrible service and warranties that don't add up to much b/c dealers love to red flag anything.

The new design didn't attract the crowd they were shooting for I guess. Oh well back to the drawing board and take out the old designs.

Looks like they are reporting increases all across the board though, that doesn't look like the complete statistics - i'd like to see where they've slowed down in sales (by model)

You have to take into consideration the state of the economy at this point compared to a year ago as well.

Before we all decide the sky is falling, actually READ the article. They said that Mitsu being down 26% is right in line with the rest of the automotive industry in the states right now. You can blame a big part of that on the price of fuel. Lancer and Evo sales are up according to that article.

Sheesh, too much gloom and doom.

Well first of all they have to start with their crappy unreliable service, & that include customer service, WARANTEES etc.
Secondly, mitsu has to go back to the drawing board. Look at the new eclipse (with 350z), galants (with accord), lancer (with civic) etc2..and their competitors in terms of performance, design & value.
To add on to that, mitsu ralliart glory days soo are over (its sad but its fact). maybe bringing back mitsu rich history and heritage might help =p
Last but not least the warantees!! well..... I guess there's no need for me to address that issues since its been well documented in this forum.

just my 0.02 =)

I do not watch much TV or listen to the radio except 15 min during the commute, but I hear and see more Mitsubishi commercials than probably any other brand. The commercials are lame, but they are there. I can not remember the last time I saw a Kia or Hyundai commercial

That and have you ever had your car serviced by Mitsu, holly hell! I took my car in for a simple oil change a rotation and some break work. I found one of my front right wheel lug nuts missing later that weekend... I mean are you freaking kidding me? Pretty bad when Mitsubishi can use a freaking torque wrench!
