Traded a Holden SSV (SSV is what the Pontiac G8 GT is based on) for an X MR. The SSV was nice, but a complete BOAT!! One short drive of an X was all I needed to be convinced! Here are a few pics of my old SSV....

I miss the V8 rumble, and instant torque, but the handling & precision of the Evo are phenomenal by comparison!

Bob.

p.s. Couple pics of the new X (click to enlarge)....

Very nice car. The SSV and Monaro were two cars I would love to own. Had a chance to drive a Monaro about 6 years ago. It took a little getting used to because it is right hand drive. But, I had a blast doing powerslides in that thing on an abandoned airstrip (El Toro Marine Base in Irvine, CA)

Traded in my complete piece of crap 2008 Acura TL Type-S. The car had a horrible/cheap build quality and had problems from day one. I drove out to South Coast Mitsubishi and was happy for them to take it off my hands. Lost about $10K in depreciation, but I don't regret it. Not so much for love of the Evo as for fear of how bad the TL would have gotten, especially once out of warranty. not to mention the Evo transmission is a dream compared to what my manual 6-speed TL was...

13 to 14k for the GTS if it's in good condition, I say try and stick to the man and demand 17k!

Traded in my 2006 Corolla S that my 17 yr-old daughter was driving. I couldn't resist the 0% and below invoice price that was being offered. Now she drives my 2008 Eclipse GT (which, though it is a pretty nice ride, is nothing compared to the X) and I'm as happy as can be.

traded in an 04 STi, and do i regret it? eh, yes and no. i just realized yesterday that the evo being more of an all out performance car isnt exactly what i want or need, especially in hawaii where there are no tracks.

i need more of a DD that can haul *****. probly shoulda shopped around for an 08 STi or even a turbo'd R32. this car just doesnt have enough presence/personality for me... personal preference.

i still love this car and think its a GREAT car but i probably woulda been happier with something else. oh well, ill just mod the hell out of it until the next best thing comes out.

If you're worried about gas then you bought the wrong car.

I average 16mpg per tank. I don't baby my car though. I bought a sports car to perform.

Give it some time, the styling and personality of the Evo might grow on you. As far as DD concerns, I think the X should be a huge step up from your 04 STI, the ride is almost comfy and is as sporty or sportier than last gen sti's. Give it some time....
