Understanding ASC: What it does and reported problems & codes (thread merge)
Hello chaps,
I have been experiencing this asc warning using ecutek, My car was tuned over 3 months ago and until now have never triggered limp or asc warnings. Recently I triggered the asc warning and now it comes on every now and then... must say it normally happens during colder weather like when the icy road warning has appeared that same day. The car was used on track recently and not once did the warning get triggered but then all of a sudden a week later on it comes during regular use. I feel it is triggered more when running in a high gear and accelerating from low rpm.
I thought it must be an error with an electrical component and have been in talks with ccc regarding the matter, they seem baffled. Having read this i realised I am getting the same codes as previously mentioned somewhere in this thread:
1) u1417- implusable coding data
2) c121c- torque request signal declined
This is a problem never heard of by my tuner and we would like to confirm is this caused due to incorrect adjustment to certain tables within the ecu or could it be a problem with the ASC system.
Any advice would be much appreciated,
GAMBIT

And yes it happens to ECUTEK guys too if they don't understand what maps they are changing ..
And if your tuner is asking you to seek advice here .. then you should change tuner too ..

X.0 EDITION, you should have your tuner contact EcuTek for assistance, they would glad to explain what tables need adjusting. IF I were in your shoes, I would insist that he do so asap.
Interesting. So you know how to avoid it? What kind of checks in the ecu does the ASC make and why does it get freaked out if certain tables are not adjusted? What are these tables, if you don't mind sharing some of your trade secrets? Thanks. Oh BTW, I was about to come up there and get a tune a week or two ago, but the AD Valorum tax bill (license tag) came in at a bad time. I love getting surprise 315 dollar bills.
I'll call you guys soon though.
I'll call you guys soon though. There are a lot of intelligent and tallented folks working on EcuFlash 2.0 and the X defs. It won't be long until all the information you could ever want about the X ecu will be publicly available.
Thanks for the reply guys,
Tuner is great thanks... i was not asked to come on here to seek advice... i decided too of my own accord. The car is going into the tuners in a few days, they have not looked at it since the problem. 10,000 miles and no asc light hence why tuner didnt think its due to map... we have not experienced this problem ever over seas so there is no wonder why tuner would need to see the car before knowing for sure. I said "we" which was a mistake on my behalf... really i wanted more knowledge on the issue inorder to rectify the problem either via tuner or ccc.
Thanks once again for the info... will have the map looked at to cure this problem.

Thanks for the explantion and this has helped me greatly as I am now aware that ccc can't help fix this problem so I can leave it to the tuner and not waste dealers time
Also the dump vavle was removed from the car and no asdjustments made to map... this made the code be trown more often however when reinstalled it will happen maybe once in a month under certain loads and conditions. The boost spiked higher with no dump valve hence why i think the fault became more apparent.
Will get this looked at a.s.a.p, and once again... much appreciated

I got my car back on Friday. The transfercase was the only failed part and was replaced as a unit. I believe I may have new issues though. The car will no longer boost over about 18 psi with the same mbc I was using before. Now I'm starting to think the AFR DID go too lean, and destroyed the turbo or wastegate. Don't know, as I'm new to the Evo, but the car runs like ****, has less power than stock with or without the Zchip installed. I'm sure the dealer would love to hear a complaint about lack of power.............
The dealer resets/reflashes the ECU and it runs like crap after a visit to the dealer. The same thing happened to capone when he took it in to get the oil changed. It returned to normal after the car relearned the fuel trims. Wastegates don't have anything to do with AFR and a turbo failure would be rare.
Still haven't had a Service ASC come on with EcuFlash yet.
I'm trying really hard to get to that secret level!
Tuned a MR today as well via EcuFlash, no Service ASC problems. He is going to report back in a couple weeks as well.

Another Update:
Had a Evo 10 GSR with ecuflash tune do a full track day this last saturday at Thunderhill raceway. Four 20 min sessions.
No "service ASC" light to be had, only problem is he ran out of brake pads.
