Understanding ASC: What it does and reported problems & codes (thread merge)
Hmm - clockspring...
Did you happen to pull the steering wheel to do the S-AWC switch relocation or for any other reason?
Other than that, probably just a defective part.
It's best that it crapped out completely and will be replaced, because if it was intermittent, it would screw with your S-AWC since it's an incredibly important part of the system (specifically the ACD and AYC).
At least you're getting it fixed sooner than later.

They say it is not broken, they just can't get it to calibrate properly. Weird. Oh well. At least it is not something really major.
Another ASC light issue
Today the ASC OFF light was flickering on and off and now its completely on and wont shut off. I even disconnected the battery but no luck. Common problem I guess?

Is this the first time this has happened? You could try hooking up an OBD II scanner and see if there are any DTC's that need to be cleared (but if there are DTC's you don't want to clear them before going to the dealer.) And can you tell that the ASC is actually off?
UPDATE:
Visited the dealer, they scanned the S-AWC computer and it was getting the steering position sensor error. The service manager placed a order for a new steering position sensor (retails: $200ish). One of the service techs re-calibrated the current sensor and the codes were erased
. I will post for any updates.

asc service required?
i just installed the greddy comp ti-c and everytime i really step on it the asc light comes on. I think it comes on like right after 4 k when the car really starts to pull. Is this a bad thing cause i don't feel any difference with the light coming on.
