Not that I'm advocating the Evo VIII guy's post, but he was talking about being hesitant about the first year of the 4B11 in the Evo.

The VIII may have been the first year in the U.S., but the equipment was by no means "first gen".

Regardless, it seems as if there will always be a division of the generations. If the Mirage-based Evo's had been sold here there would have been the same arguments between them and the VII-IX guys! Oh well!

Thats a silly thing to say. every car i've drove over the years starts up with the turn of the key. So now we are spoiled??? Thats what is called advancing, you know from the carberator.

Not to mention that fuel doesn't have anything to do with the car "turning over" ...

anyone else got this problem? I dropped off my car at the dealer so they can try to duplicate the problem, but it just won't do it. And I don't want to leave my car there until it does it, because i need it =\

so anyone know what could be causing it, or mine's just weird and it does that?

same problem on a JDM X here.. i attribute that to the weak stock battery on the evo Xs...

try leaving your X alone for 3 weeks and then starting her up again... DEAD BATTERY>

a. Let the fuel pump fill the fuel rail before you turn it over.
b. Check your plugs, esp if you intermittently use race fuel.
c. Check the battery voltage with the car on, and if you can, also check the charge coming from the alternator.

Based on your systems I would think it's 'a'. But I've come to learn that with cars you never REALLY know what to expect.

Never had a problem on my stripper GSR (no fast-key). I have left it parked for 2-3 weeks at a time while overseas and this has not done anything to it either.

No start up issues with my X either. The weak battery theory doesn't make sense to me either as I have sat in the car with the MMCS turned on ripping and editing my music and when I went to start the car it fired right up.

Don't know if you worked on cars before but the fuel pump primes the fuelrail almost instantly. And even after you turn off your car and let it sit, the fuel line has some pressure in it still.

I read yesterday, that after driving with use of turbo (over 4K, turbo was spooled), you should let your car idle 1-3 min before turning it off. They said manufacturers advise at least 10 sec. They said if you don't it would cause some sort of buildup. One of the results can be engine damage and difficulties starting the engine.

Just an idea, since I sometimes just kill the engine while rolling to a stop. Will try to avoid this from now on.

guess this is your first turbo car . All turbo cars you have to let it idle before you turn it off after driving hard. You have to cool down the turbo or what will happen is the oil will cook and biuldup and next thing you know you need a new turbo or motor or both

i dont drive it hard =\

and everytime i have that problem, the night before it, i didnt drive hard at all lol

so i dont think that's the problem, and as for what everyone else is suggesting, its hard to test since it does it at random, it doesn't matter if its like 12 PM or 6 AM, it just does it when ever i first start it of the day on a really random day =\

but yeah i have to take it back in to mitsu again because it did it again and they want to keep figuring out why it does it, and they said they might give me a new one, but they have to review the problem for 21 days before they tell me my options =\
