Trade the X for a C55?
Had to drop $ for a winter set up on the X anyways, in MN, you have to have snow tires, or a 2 ton SUV-thats just the way it is here.
I'm taking it in the pooper-trade the X as is, and $1500 and I get the C55.
Miles are the same (I have 23k on the X now, 25k on the C55).
As I think I've stated earlier, comparing the $ on a C55 to a C63 isnt a good idea. The C55 you can pick up for mid $30k, the C63 starts at a hair below $60k (and if anyone wants to tell me a new MBZ dlr will sell you a C63 for invoice, I have a bridge to sell you).
Guys, I'm just asking (in your own opinions) if it were same $, which would yuo pref. I'm not spending more $, the payment is irrelevant (the cars are both paid for), winter is winter (AWD vs RWD and a good set of tires on both). Performance is very similar (check the skid pad on a C55 once.....).

I recently test drove the C55 AMG and Its a decent car , not great . Things to consider before you buy this mercedes
1) very expensive to maintain
2) make sure you get the warranty , I asked the dealer how much is the additonal warranty . It was $2500 per year so $7500 for 3 year bumper to bumper. I dont believe in aftermaket warranties
3) There is no rear legroom , I mean seriously even kids would complain.
4) you can pick an E55 for few grand more and its a lot more car.
5) the new one is out so that body style would get old fast .

If it was C55 vs. Evo X, I'd keep the X.
However, I traded my Evo 9 MR for an E55 AMG. The Evo and AMG are totally different cars. The E55 is certainly not as engaging or capable in the twisty stuff. It has impressive grip thanks to 245 tires up front and 265 at the back, but it just doesn't enjoy hard cornering. There's no question the Evo is the better track and mountain road performer.
What the E55 does really well, though, is daily driver duty. I would never ask for more luxury or refinement in a car. By the way, it's also a straightline monster. Mid 12-sec quarter miles @ 116-117 are not difficult to achieve with a bone stock car - just floor the gas pedal in a gradual and linear manner and then let the auto tranny take care of the rest. While the C55 offers a similar luxury sedan proposition, it just doesn't have the same beast like performance of the E55.

The C55 is a nice car I would go for it. But if you had a IX MR. I would keep the IX over the C55. Though if you are paying mid 30's for that car, you are paying to much 2003-2004 E55's are going for that around here now if you shop right.
E55>almost anything short of a C5 Z06.

even the e63 with 40 or so more hp isnt faster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkLAT...eature=related

Ok here is my take on this thread
I just recently got out of my 600whp evo 8 and got into a 06 c55 with 7k
I haven't look back yet. The torque is very nice, the AMG just seems to pull so hard on the hway. I also test drove the m3, isf and the c63. For the money the c55 was the best bang for my coin. I thought about the e55 but it seems like a very big car.
pro's of the AMG
ride quality
looks more grown up
bullet proof motor
torque
Insurance was also $100 less a month than my evo
only downside is the aftermaket parts are threw the roof
$5000 for headers $2000 for ecu. etc

if i ever get bored I can always drive the race car

the evo wasn't a bad car I just grew out of it
