Well just to give you a heads up, there is a TSB on the keys. This was the 3rd key I had go dead, both on my old Lancer GTS and 1 for the GSR. Here come to find out alot of the first round FAST keys are not EMI shielded so your cell phones will cause them to reset and you can't start the car even with the manual key.

They had to order (which were backordered cause of this) 2 new keys. To top it off they couldn't even reprogram my old keys because that ECU portion was somehow locked up.

So just an FYI

are all keys affected? because I've never had this problem before. I even put my phone next to the key in which then i tried to start the car and it said missing key, but it still working fine as of now o.o

hopefully I won't have to deal with this since i always carry my key on my neck (on my lanyard)

Semi bad news guys, it seems they are having trouble programming the keys. looks like the problem with the ecu being locked up that mentioned before on this thread. Worst case, I will be driving the car back to philly with the manual key without me having to make trips back and forth to maryland for picking it up.

I did not have the second key with me at the time of the problem. I later fedexed the second key to the dealership since they need both to be able to order a new set of 2 for procedure and security sake.

Good news for me and not so good news for others here, The service rep just called me and said everything was done. I asked him about the TSB and its not a Recall. Unless you come in with the problem, you are not getting the fix (read new keys).

The ECU in the car was jacked up. Thats why they couldn't reprogram the keys. So they just sent installed a new ECU. They thought they could reprogram the keys if it wasn't for the ECU.

Another thing I found out is that the manual key doesn't work for me unless i get out of the car, lock it with the button on the door, then unlock the car with the manual key and start it. If i unlock the car with the fast key and try to start it with the manual key, it doesn't work.

I encounter the same situation. I was at the fiancee house and the F.A.S.T key stopped working and I thought it was the battery inside. So i sat outside the driveway for an hour trying to figure out why the damn metal won't start the car. So put out the manual and that solved the problem. But know what do I do with that F.A.S.T key? go back to the dealership and tell what ?
