EVO X MR Used Market.. What's going on?

There are two X MR's on Autotrader that are $29K used. I called on one of them that had 2K miles with tech and they were willing to drop it a bit too... Do you all feel that the MR will drop into the mid $20's by summer?

Man no one is gonna be into the EvoX, thats why you see very lil on the road and a lot on the lots.

Look at the prices from South Cost Mitsubishi on used 06 Evo9 and 05 Evo8 with a lot of miles....

The EVO X is proving itself to be a better car than the VIII/IX everyday. South Coast is crazy for even asking those prices.

No one is buying cars these days so I guess they're a little desperate to move inventory?

South Coast Mitsu keeps the prices of their used Evo/STIs high so they can sell you their new cars. I don't see people scrambling to buy themselves an VIII/IX from them.

IMO I think people are just waiting for a shop to get over the aluminum sleeved block issue before jumping ship on their cars. Some people are having fire wall and space issues with bigger turbos.

dont you easily see the X owners are biased to X's. 8/9 owners are biased to their own...

just buy what you want. its the economy thats hurting the prices, not demand on one particular model over another.

I recently went thru the ordeal of trying to find a IX that was stock and did not have a buttload of miles on it and was not selling for $27 to 30k. It took me about 2 months to find one and every time I came across one with low miles (under 20k) it would sell withing 1 week. I had to drive to Kentucky from Virginia and after the long drive it was well worth it as the car is immaculate and only had 10k miles. I got it for $25k out the door and not a moment to soon as the dealership got 2 offers from other people that were interested. What saved me is that I had a certified check. I don't quite understand it either as Southcoast is asking ridiculous prices for their IX MRs and SEs. I knew that I wanted a IX and as I test drove a X and even the 08 STi since I came from the STi community initially.
As for what the X MR is selling for... if those cars for sale are selling for that cheap, whether its the economy and/or the cars just not selling, just make sure you go over the vehicle well to make sure it doesn't have any issues and even if they are new with less than 2k miles, make sure you run the VIN thru any Mitsu dealership and see if its had any warranty work done. I got lucky and my IX is sound and well taken care of as I had 2 mechanics(one who is familiar with EVOs) go over the car and both agreed that the car was pretty much a garage queen as even the underside of the car is super clean.
At the 2 local Mitsu dealerships here in Northern VA, they have a total of 6 X MRs and none have sold. They are just too expensive and the economy is not helping. As for worrying bout if the car is gonna hold its value, its a pointless thing as we all know that most cars never retained their value for the most part. Just don't plan to sell it anytime within the next 2 years and I think you will be ok.

We are in the middle of a recession with job losses never before seen. Of course 30k Evo's arent in demand, thus prices fall.

All depends what you use it for and what you prefer. I don't find this true at all.

Honestly I find it a little ridiculous on X owners insistence of this. I think it's a better overall car too, and it's done a lot of things an Evo has never done before very well. To go as far as to say it's conclusively the "best" car.. Well everyone's got their own opinions.

But, it's offensive for CT9A guys to but into a thread about the X and say oh no you should get an 8/9. No one's even focusing on his question.

The answer is no, they won't drop to mid 20k's. Right now is one of the best times to buy a car period, with the new year coming in and inventory stacked up. I don't think it'll be like this by summer, manufacturers aren't gonna keep pumping out cars when they're not selling.

Damn, make me a mod
