s-awc is awesome...

today i was driving home the usual route with a s-turn, i went in faster than normal and as i was braking and turning left, i felt the s-awc apply full brake pressure to my front left wheel, i even heard it skid for a split second, and at that moment the car turned to exactly where i wanted to go, i was simply amazed. i love it when technology saves your ***...

Similar thing happened to me. I turned and thought I was gonna go straight. Then the cars skid control display pops up in yellow and corrected itself by applying the appropiate brake pressure to compensate for the cars natural yaw. Amazing technology. I don't think I will ever be testing the car's limits again. Its a bit scary.

I have had the screen turn yellow on me a few times-CAUTION- the car was telling me I was at the limits. In the snow I have had the screen go green on me; which ment the car had lost all traction and I was on my own. This did scare me a little because the rear end came out and I was heading toward the ditch. So I counter steered a little and let off the gas, and the car came back into line. The S-AWC is great, as long as the driver knows their limits as well as the cars (with proper tires for the conditions.)

I have mixed feelings about the S-AWC. I love the fact that in a lesser car I would be in the weeds with the way the rear rotates in the X. Unfortunately, I think I spend a lot of time scrubbing off speed because I'm blasting out of an apex with the rear wheels sliding although this may be more of a function of me getting on the throttle too soon and the car simply trying to correct me based on my steering inputs.

It's certainly a technological curiosity and a heck of a lot of fun.

when you turn off the ASC, but leave the other part on, that just turns off the part that dumbs down the motor right?

It was the ASC you were feeling not the s-awc. Enter a turn really hot, mid way through gas it more and feel the car rotate.

If you push the ASC button once, it turns off the braking control. If you push and hold the button until the message pops up on the screen, it turns off braking control and power cut.

You have it reversed. One push turns off traction control. Holding it down turns off stability control.
