Evo X Small Battery Kit

I just grabbed this from STM for what looked like a great price compared to other offerings. Knowing that the stock battery seems to be only good for 1-3 years depending on abuse I figured why not lose 25 lbs and get a reliable light weight battery in there at the same time. I would say next to removing the spare & tools out of the trunk this is one of the best weight losses you can do without spending big cash on carbon fiber parts.

Anyone run one of these over the winter and have any cold start issues? I would imagine that the only warning is to avoid running larger stereo setups especially when the engine is off.

How are the CCA on that battery compared to stock? If its near then it should be good to go in the winter.

I'm not sure about the stock battery but the STM website lists these stats for this type of battery. Seems to be quite strong, it just won't have as long of a reserve time.

The STM Evo X Small Battery Kit includes everything pictured above and installs in minutes. The factory battery weighed in at just over 38 pounds while our small battery kit is just 14 pounds, saving you almost 25 pounds while lowering the center of gravity of that weight.

If you already have a small battery kicking around, you can also purchase JUST our Tie-Down Kit (includes everything above except the battery) for only $50 with the polished aluminum finish, or $60 for the black anodize.

- Battery lies flat, helping to keep the center of gravity lower.

- Includes an aluminum battery tie-down machined right here in Rochester, NY.

- Comes with a non-slip fitted pad to help keep the battery snug and reduce shock.

- Includes new tie down and stainless steel washers and wing nuts for a rust-free and easy install.

- Saves 25 pounds and lowers the center of gravity.

This tiny SP680 Dry Cell Battery can deep cycle as well as provide enormous cranking power... And it weighs less than 14.5 pounds! It is not recommended for high-amp powered stereo systems, though.

Small batteries can fail if the posts are not torqued to 50 inch pounds! Additional torque will cause damage to your battery, so please be careful when installing.

- 680 cranking amps for 5 seconds
- 595 cranking amps for 10 seconds
- 525 cranking amps for 20 seconds

I've got a Deka battery too. It made it through the second half of this winter, and it's still going strong. All I have to do now is make a riser plate for underneath so I can lay it over.

You gotta be pretty hard core to the smaller battery in an X. Made a lot bigger difference in future mods in the 8s and 9s; actually saved space.

I am not hard core enough to change out the battery for weight reduction, at least not yet

i run one of those in my race car, they used to be drained if I didn't run the car every 3-4 days. so if you do and you decide to leave your car for a while, disconnect the battery.
