The fact is, you modified the car, increased HP, and ruined the clutch. I sure as hell don't think Mitsubishi should be covering it. Basically what you are doing is increasing the cost of future cars. You don't really think this money to replace your clutch just appears out of nowhere, do you? It's like insurance. The faults of a few, affect the rates for us all. Disappointing that you make Mitsubishi pay for what you obviously damaged. Sure, the part may actually be defective, but you could only say that truthfully if there were no mods.

An older, polite gentleman you may be, but your dealership is scamming Mitsubishi.

I appreciate your insight in this matter. However I must disagree with you on a few points. I beat on this car pretty good. No first gear clutch dumps, but I do take advantage of every performance aspect the car offers. My clutch would have undoubtedly failed regardless. Reading through the hundreds of post on here about how weak these clutches are, I don't think my driving habits are too terribly different from anyone else who enjoys the power that the car offers.

Regarding your insurance analogy, new vehicle prices rise every year 2-3%. Some car models actually offer a cheaper base model, but add to it substantially through factory options. The price is more dictated by currancy exchange rates, fuel prices, and demand. But I also heard latley that GM will be adding a price increase accross the board to try to offset employee wages and benefits.

So if Mitsubishi would have said, "sorry pal, you broke it you bought it" I would have said I understand, and purchased my twin disk and installed it myself. But the tech made a very good point about drive train damage if an aftermarket clutch is installed.

Oh and I forgot, I have never raced this car. People love to say that it seems. I don't see where that matters being that most stuff breaks within 5 minutes from my house.
