GT-R owner considering switch to Evo X MR
2200.00 or 220.00? Why don't you change the fluids yourself instead? As for the tires... just get a nice set of tires from the tire rack... you'll pay a lot less. Our tires are 331.00 a piece from there, no one buys them though a lot of guys by the Nitto NT05's that some get for 130 or so a piece or the Dunlop starspecs which are 186 a piece I think?
The fluid itself is about $800 to $900.
Tires are very limited and I don't think any are below $350 a piece.
I'd say if you can afford it keep the GTR. If you asked about 99.9999% of people on this site would take a GTR over an evo anyday its like the next step up the chain for us awd turbo lovers.
Now if cost is your main concern then yes the evo is much cheaper to own and mod. the MR is going to run you more money to own in the long run but has the flappy paddle gearbox your used to. It handles great and can be made to go fast. That being said it will never be a GTR (bigger, 4 doors, different company, etc). You can get it to be as fast and go around a track as fast but its a different car.
Thats my food for thought.

They still have a couple actually, I saw them when I got my GSR couple weeks ago. Pretty amazing they still have new ones.
I have both the GTR and the EVO MR.
Power-wise, if you are enjoying the power that the GTR is making then screw the MR because even with (light) tuning you are not able to get something close.
Handling - I think both cars are good but you will find the EVO a bit more comfy because the suspension is a bit softer than the GTR.
Practical - The EVO is a bit more practical than the GTR BUT the trunk of the GTR is bigger so you basically gaining back seat space for family or other passengers but not trunk space. If you do golfing, the golf bag barely fits into the EVO's trunk.
Interior - The EVO's Recaro are way nicer than GTR seats but door panels and dash, they are very "PLASTIC" feel. GTR is way nicer.
Paint - Sure the EVO is losing on this one, the GTR does have much better paint.
Maintenance cost - GTR is brutal !!!!!! Oil, tranny fluids, tires and brakes will kill you BUT if you are able to own a GTR then it should not be an issue. EVO's maintenance cost is much lower and you can get generic fluids anywhere at a reasonable price.
EVO is almost half less the price of the GTR so you cannot really compare the build quality and performance.
Just my 0.2 cents

and wants to drive it and drive it, but the price for tires and lubes are a fortune. He also loathes the customer service of a nissan in comparison his previous ownership of a lexus. The tire sizes front and rear are different, and matching tires are 400 a piece, and they got worn out pretty darn fast. in the 2 years of his ownership he had spent enough on insurance /maintenance /fuel / tires to buy a small compact sedan. I was in a huge shock knowing how much it costs on a paid off car.
also he paid a huge premium to be one of the first owners.
The seats in the MR ARE NOT CRAPPY. You are obviously reading about the ghetto cloth seats in the GSR. The Leather seats in the MR are far better.
Nobody has proven that launch control wears down the clutch plates significantly. However, many people have reported that the transmission will often report that its internal oil temp is too high, especially when using launch control.
Dealers are bastards, and so is Mitsubishi corporate.

And as far as being glad.....Mitsubishi better be glad they brought the EVO here or I would have never bought or been a Mitsu owner.
