Murlo26's Build from Stock to FPblack time :)
Murlo, been reading thru the thread and the other black build thread. lots of good info man. im trying to get into a 10 and my build is gonna be almost identical to yours. i was wondering exactly what let go on the original motor? was it a rod that went that took piston and block with it? or piston that took everything with it? also how much boost were you running when it let go? i think i read 25psi on the red. thanks for the info man, and good luck with the rest of your build and results.

So we believe the rod failed and took the block with it...and in turn the piston split up.
got it. thanks for the intel sir.
so have we found the weak point in the 4b11t yet? rods? pistons? sleeves? im a 46g3 guy (lots of early evo's, 3-4-8-9 and eclipse's) trying to expand my knowledge base since im trying to get in a 10 here real soon, you seem to be one of the resident experts.

The sleeves have shown to hold a lot of abuse, ETS is running stock sleeves at over 800whp.
Stock crank on that car too.
Honestly the 4b11 is pretty similar in power holding to the 4g63. It is still pretty early to tell as there haven't been many failures reported yet.
I would say the rods torque holding level might be a bit lower than the 4g63, but not by much.
Playing it safe, the power levels are very similar that both can handle.

my dad always told me "dont re-invent the wheel, learn from the wheels that have already rolled by and improve your own wheel" you have the best "wheel" right now to learn from. we are in the same boat, i read and collect data and plan my builds very carefully based on proven results (like your build)
last question and ill leave you alone for a few hours, lol. headstuds? were you running them when you were at 33psi on the red? or 25psi?

Stock block completely when I ran 33psi. The stock headstuds seem to hold up pretty well on the 4b11's. I think people have take them up to 40psi. I honestly haven't heard of any heads lifting on the 4b11 yet.
I will have ARP's on the new build though because I needed news ones.

. . . . . . .
Im thinking of going with kelford cams with my black turbo. Unless yours make good number. Then i will go with the same cam you did. Good luck. Keep us posted.. Im break boosting my black about 4200rpm and about 4500 full spool. cant wait to see were yours spools at.
