Maintenance interval changes from 5k to 3.5k?

when i turned my car on this morning, it says maintenance required. The ODO was exactly at 3500. the funny thing is, up until 3500 miles the maintnenance interval was always set to 5000 on the heads up display. Any idea why it would change all of a sudden? i was going to get an oil change soon regardless, but just curious.

thx.

I think the 5k maintnenance is factory setting. I actually went to my dealer and asked them to switch/adjust to every 3k, but they could not figure out how to do so... Maybe is just their issue lol. Btw, mine is 2010 RA, not an EVO I'd say go to ur dealer and let them handle it

Sorry if I don't remember how, but it is possible to change the interval...there is a thread somewhere about it

I left my car for two weeks, came back and the interval was blank and which tripped the maintenance required symbol. I looked up and its possible to change the interval, i changed it so it would stop ignoring me. It now says like 13000 miles and 13 months

The option is there to change the interval

It's in the owner's manual. I changed mine this weekend after I changed the oil however the earliest interval on mine is 4k/4mos. I just use one of the trip odometers to see when I'm getting close to 3k.

no that's not true
you can adjust the interval without having the navi system installed

if i remember correctly, put your key in and turn it to the first setting and hold the info key down and i think you can change it from there

It doesn't count down 1 mile at a time. I goes in increments - like 100 miles at a time. You may have just caught it at 3500 and it won't change for a little while. But, if you reset it, it will go back to 5000.

Don't know specifically about the Evo, but some cars calculate the interval based on how the car is driven.
