Well I'm not going to bash on US top gear, because at least its about cars and as cars fanatics that we are ( I hope) that is worth something. However it should not be compared to to the UK top gear because it's no contest. The whole feel of the shows are different the sense of humor and sarcasm are way different yes it will take a while for the host to develop continuity but it wont be the same. So imo i think that comparisons should not be made because if you have seen any episodes of the Uk version then you should know that there will never be any other show like it ever.

 

IIRC, Leno was offered the show a few years ago, when it was slated to be on NBC. He declined, because it's essentially mixing a hobby with a job.

The producers should give a try to letting Tanner at the green room's booze before the studio segments. When he's driving all out, his speaking skills are SO much better than when he's not got all the distractions around him. So let him tie on a little buzz, see if that loosens him up. Being a journalist and good interviewer is as much about being loose as it is prepared or knowledgable. Just look at the contrast between Jon Stewarts first and last Daily Shows (if you're old enough to even remember or know that he took over the show from Kilborn)

I am not a big fan of the show. Sometimes i think friends of mine would be funnier on there.

But it was nice to see the X on there.

 

They made the X look straight badass... The show isnt bad, it can be corny but it could be a lot worse.
