As mentioned already that was Hammond. However Clarkson did race a skier on the actual slope in an X Type. They show it in this clip starting at 4:45.

I think they did that on purpose to mimic the UK skit when they compared burn outs with US muscle cars.

Also they did the donuts and handbrake parking in the UK show using old ladies instead of a blind man.

I enjoy the show, but the skits appear to be all reworked from the UK show. I personally dont care, but I can see how it could bother some.

well that episode helped me in the X department, cause a couple of months ago I convinced my wife into letting me get a X, it was just sorta ok you can get one if you stop bothering me type deal, then she watched this episode with me and and her reaction was "we are getting one of those" so thank you top gear, lol. That episode though was better done than the first I think but still lots of room for improvement.

The thing that bothers me about the cast is mole guy and flannel guy seem like they know absolutely nothing about cars and they can't drive them. Granted being funny is something that really helps a show but they aren't even that! During the whole segment about the Aston, I kept saying to myself "that's not him driving the car, there's no way he could be doing that" and it really didn't show any in car footage that looked like he was doing any stunts.

If they knew or atleast acted like they knew anything about cars it would be fine but they seem totally lost when it comes to anything with 4 wheels besides a spec sheet that they probably get with the car. Tanner is sweet though.

I watched the evo clip... man that show is just embarrassing. I was so embarrassed and disappointed while watching it my chest was tightening up by the minute. Unless they can somehow get Leno this show will be garbage.

I'll stick to the BBC.

The Flannel Shirt guy should be put down, put us all out of our misery. I think he's supposed to be a US version of James May, not that much of a car guy but if the car is cool enough, he'll go out of his specialty and be an analyst. The problem is James May has a freaking education and this Flannel Shirt US guy is the epitomy of crass uneducated US trailer trash, who thinks he's affected by the tax breaks for the rich at the same time. Waste of footage IMO to have that Flannel Shirt farting out his pie-hole. I think the other two guys have potential, but Flannel Shirt has potential to run a meth lab, nothing more!

Yeah, I hear you. I was encouraged a lot by how much snow he pushed into his FMIC with umph. And the suspension did wonderful, stock ride height w/o Aero package/air dam. They probably should have acknowledged that some of his extreme driving was with the experience of a few Rally America venues, competitively, driving the X like ya stole it.

Did they really run the stock Advan tires on the snow?!?!

My 8 year old little girl thought the snow sequence with the skiers was awesome. Of course it did little to inspire her confidence in riding in MY EVO with me. She's already a bit scared when I simply boost from 4000 rpms to 7000. (Ok, she's a lot scared by 7200 rpms, regardless of gear). But she didn't think my evo was up for that kind of cross country skiing. Well, I didn't think so either before seeing that.

Exclamation

I liked the old Top Gear because they showed a lot of car's that we in the States don't usually get or is hard for us to get a hold of. But I do hate on the fact that they hate on Japanese Imports such as the EVO and domestic's such has the SS and Ford's.

I like Tanner has a driver but has a host he suck's. The other two guys on the new show are just horrible and I've never heard of the other two guys on TV or anytime of Automotive show...not even in a commercial

It's like listening to a salesman at Dealership...they try to act like they know what they are talking about but in reality they don't know shyt expect that it has 4 tire's,motor and a steering wheel. O ya, not to mention petals and a shifter

Rutledge Wood is a NASCAR analyst.... so that explains pretty much everything you've said.

Tanner needs to go, the show isn't about how skilled you are at driving. Nor is about delivering your opinions with robotic-like charisma. The show is really about three middle-age men "cocking about" as they have said repeatedly. If you miss that ingredient you've missed the point of the show and you can't hope to create a similar experience as the UK version.

My vote is to get Adam Carolla back and replace Tanner. Give Tanner the Stig's job.

I like Adam a lot. Tanner is OK, non-offensive and generally kinda dull. Rutledge, OTOH, is an air pirate - a complete waste of airtime and arguably a stain on humanity. I completely agree with the comment above - the show is about three middle-aged men cocking about. We have zero middle-aged men and they're following a badly written script. The program isn't funny, it's not clever or interesting, but it does manage to recycle the gags done by the Brits years ago.

It's one thing to dumb down the show, but making the viewer feels stupid for watching it is another matter entirely.
