I'm only saying that, because it didn't take me +3 tries to finish watching the entire program.
The legalities aren't legally required for non OTA broadcasts. Whatever they were putting in their mouths was a volatile concoction, no hiding the flamage that they created. Knowing combustibles pretty well, both academically as well as experiementally (I'm typical guy, LOVE to burn anything and everything), the only safe combustible to human injestion is alcohol.

They got buzzed, not from drinking it, but from the frequent number of times they put it in their mouths, letting the OH molecules get absorbed through the tissues in the mouth, gums, etc.

IMO, that segment was the most UK-like that History Channel's aired so far. They got stupid, forgot they were doing a show, and simply made fools of themselves.

You got all that from the few seconds the hosts drank something that looked like water? I'm jealous.

<grin> This reminds me of the (UK) TG episode, when Clarkson rolled the Robin into a creek and someone here asked how he got out of the car.

I watched that segment twice the first time I fired up Episode 3. It was pretty funny.

And yeah, the fire getting bigger wasn't hard to spot

It did take them a season and cutting Jason Dawe to really get it right, but I'd say once they brought on James May the chemistry was there almost instantly. That chemistry is probably the only reason the show lasted more than a few seasons, i mean look at how many car shows come out and then die almost instantly because the presenters are basically robots.

And for those who complain about the other presenters not being trained drivers, look at captain slow. yes he is a car fanatic but has no background in racing yet he still works for the UK version.

That being said, i'm not a fan of the US version but i'll continue to watch in hopes that they loosen up and figure out the casting. Besides i need something to hold me over until the next season on BBC comes out.

IMO, Tanner can stay -- while he is a bit of a stiff, he shows he CAN do what he's doing on the US version well in the Battle of the Supercars that he does... He's got no parallel in the UK version because they don't let the hyper-competitive Stig talk. But if he brings the "I WANT TO WIN" every contest on the US TG like he does on his other cable shows, that's the moxy that I think will resonate with the rest of a cast. I also like Adam F, he's so crazy and stupid it's great -- he needs to improve his car education, but if he hangs on and the show survives, time will educate him and round him out.

What I don't get is why even try to make Rutledge a TV personality for something on a channel that gets afficianados to view it. He's a terrible performer, and his adhoc judgements are as good as whoever is doing their wardrobe. Toss Rutledge and their wardrobe supervisor on the street, let them replace those two big question marks... then we can re-assess future tweaks.

I agree. An example of Mr. Flannels ineptness occured on the show last night when he said he would purchase the new STi, one of the ugliest cars on the planet, if given 40 grand to spend. In the Evo episode however he called the X ugly saying "it looks like it fell outta the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down." Yes looks are relative and compared to the X the Sti, hatch or sedan, is relatively ugly. I think Mr. Rutledge should apply for a job at Lenscrafters since he clearly needs a new prescription.

Missed the show last night; forgot it was on. I never thought I'd say that about an episode of Top Gear, franchise or not.

I think last night's episode was the best one so far... that halo parachuter dude is insane!

as far as american top gear goes, tanner stays. adam f seams to be getting better also, he's way better than rutledge. just compare the aston test to the sls test. the sls test was actually decent with adam's commentary

so far everyone i've spoken to on the subject agree's that rutledge wood has no business being on that show
