Parking Brake Not Releasing?

So I left the country for little over two weeks and left the evo in underground parking during that time period. The parking stall I'm in has a slight incline so I use my parking brake there. I got back in the evo today and it started but the parking brake wouldn't release.. The handle would come down but I think it's still engaged because the car won't move. I read some stuff about pumping the brakes or letting the car sit idle for a bit but I thought I should also post my problem here for obvious reasons.

Does it get really cold in said parking garage? It is possible that the E-Brake is frozen if it does.

The pads/calipers freezing to the rotor seems to be a common problem. Lightly tap the rotor with a rubber mallet and that'll be enough to crack the ice.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I don't think it's frozen because although the underground parking isn't heated it doesn't feel cold enough for ice to form. When I went down there it was actually slightly warm. I tried letting my car run idle for about 10-15 minutes as this one tip online said but that didn't anything. There is another one that suggests I turn off the car, stick it in 1st or neutral and pump the brakes. Problem with that tip though is I can't shift into anything when the car is off since I have the MR.

I forgot to mention that the e-brake light will go on and off when moving the handle if that helps diagnosis the problem anymore.

Push the gas harder, I'm sure it's either frozen or has a bit of rust holding it in place.

it's rust. I just returned home after 21 days, and the ebrake was stuck as well. Push the gas a little harder and u'll hear the "snapping sound." It's absolutely normal.

Kracka and iamblue03,

It was rust, thanks a ton! I gave it more gas and it made this unpleasant sound but it broke free lol.

evo 9 guy and mlomker,

Thanks for taking the time to offer suggestions.

i learned it the hardway 10 stalls later. i ended up rocking the car on my driveway incline with my fatass other than adding more gas or tapping the rotors
