I have an e46 coupe and had a mini for a 1 year. It's not as comfortable as the e46 and i notice that i tend to go to the gas station more often in my X than the e46. But i feel more engaged driving the X!

After about a year and almost 20,000 miles, the car is as fun as the day I got it. It's comfortable and it got better gas mileage than expected. On long highway drives I could get 26mpg (with intake and a catback). Ride is fairly comfortable and I've got nothing to complain about.

Got my X SE last Oct and it used to have 26+mpg for all hwy driving at 70mph. Now with high flow filter and Catback, plus a nice tune, it still holds 24+mpg on hwy, not bad IMO. Have been enjoying the extra power so much lol!

You would have to drive both and see what suits your taste.
I drive a R56 Cooper S now (with springs and sways changed) as a DD. I do around 40 miles a day and find the ride is harsh and it rattles a bit, but the sporty handling makes me forget about the comfort. Before I had a B6 A4 with coilovers and exhaust and I find the ride is still more comfortable than the mini. However the mini is more fun to drive, it feels more connected to the road, I bring it to the track 3-4 times a year and had lots of fun. I know performance wise these cars are aimed at a different market but I just want to see if the X's ride is similar or worse than the mini in terms of comfort as a DD?

I drove the new Mazdaspeed 3 and it was very comfy, 27 MPG and could probably keep up with the Stock Evil on the highway and all for $20k.

I don't think I've ever seen such a wild range in MPG for a car. I know people averaging 14mpg, and I know people averaging 24mpg...weird!

I do 80 miles daily -- had mine for 50,000 by end of the month. Do your cars right, keep those lubricants changed by the book, consider every day "severe" condition use; heck, starting it is hard on it.

DD is great btw. But with the same engine and tune, between me and gasoline choices, I can range from 5mpg (track) to 27-28mpg (55mph, flat straight). Other than the F250 I still have, I've always had soft cushy rides. The agility and ability to dodge potholes makes up for the rougher ride.

Had mine for almost a year and have about 20,500 miles on it already. Tracked it, rally-x'd it, and drive 80-85 mph for hours on end. No rattles and no complaints about noise.

I don't care about gas mileage so this has been a perfectly good/reliable DD for me.

I drive 40 miles a day round trip to work. 90% freeway. I love having the SST transmission for the stop and go driving of rush hour.

Radio keeps up just fine, I do have the rockford package.

Best daily driver I have ever had.
