CBE and intake safe untuned??

i dont see why this would really matter especially with the exhaust because there are no censers but i want to put a cat back and intake on my evo x just to make it a little more fun to drive in the mean time. I can not get it tuned yet until the transmission is fixed and considering ive been trying to find a dealer that will actually help me with my problem rather than brush me off and tell me everything is fine for months..im not really sure how long thats going to be

so anyway back on topic..it would be much appreciated if someone could tell me if its safe to at least run a CBE..Thanks!

What's wrong with your transmission? If it's preventing you from getting tuned, or you're in the middle of dealing with warranty coverage with a dealership, I wouldn't touch a single part on the car.

thats why i don't want to tune it, even though im dying too lol. Anyway ever since i bought the car it grinds horribly ever time i shift from 2 to 3.. i had 3 non mitsubishi mechanics drive the car and they all said it feels like a bad sycro... so my evo has 4k miles on it and its been to the dealer 4 times. Every time i leave with a different story..

the most recent visit i took a ride with a mitsubishi mechanic and later the service manager... they both said to leave the car with them because there i definitely somthing wrong with it. So i did and 2 weeks later i received a call saying the tech from came to drive the car and said it was fine...

so now im back at sqaure one and scared to mod my car because i don't feel like paying for somthing in the future that i shouldnt have too... not sure what to do

CBE should be safe untuned. Intake may cause you to run lean and I'd reccomend against it or at least stay out of boost until you can get tuned.

I agree with Kracka. Don't mod the car at all if you are still dealing with the dealership on a warranty issue - which I think this should be. Wait until you are satisifed with the fix the dealership should do. Stand your ground and don't take no until YOU are satisfied with it. If you mod anything now, that will give the dealership a reason to void the warranty.

Just be patient. I know it's hard, but look down the road. Get this fixed first, then mod the car and enjoy it for a long time later.

Don't mod the car at all and keep bringing it back to the dealership and complaining. Try other dealerships and calling Mitsu Corp if you have to. Adding ANY mods to the car will just make your case harder.

hey i had the same problem! grinding everytime i went into 3rd with only 1200 miles. i took it in and they replaced my 3rd and 4th gear synchros. also at 600 miles i put a cat-back and intake and intercooler pipes and they didnt mind my mods, also the car runs great so i think its safe to run untuned. im at 1800 now and car feels just as good. i have a 2010 evo by the way.
