Got a ticket! Please help

I need help to resolve this problem. I just received a ticket in Pasadena Ca area last month saying that I have a loud exhaust "27151". No it is not loud at all because I'm using HKS Legamax! he told me to CHP (california highway patrol) to sign off my ticket. however, CHP would not do sign off again and referred me to referee. I called 'em and they said they goin to charge me $108 for inspections. I have a few parts install in my car, should I part it out? what should I do?
List of my parts:
-UR DP
-HKS LEGAMAX
-ARC Intake
-SARD BOV
-Turbo inlet
-Tomei UICP

Please help me

I don't want to discourage you, but your measurement of quietness is very different from the legal one. I would also just pay for the ticket and fix my exhaust. If you are pulled over once, you'll be pulled over again if you don't fix it. I used to live in California, and it's the law man...
There is just no way for you to appeal unless you can prove your exhaust's dB level is within the
legal range... good luck!

$108 for an inspection ? No. Its better to just pay the ticket and be done with it. Your lucky he didn't give you a state ref smog ticket, otherwise you would have to revert everything back to stock....it sucked when it happened to me.

pay the ticket and get on with it, i was fuming after i got a warning for it so i looked up the legal law and it says any exhaust installed that is louder than oem or used for performance gains or something like that its an nationwide law and its a catchall. it sucks i know, sorry.

Unrelated to California traffic law but in Pennsylvania it states "No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle..." Very vague if you ask me. So in PA they can basically nail you if they "think" its aftermarket or "louder than stock". I feel for you though, Cali is the worst state of them all and you have to pay to play..

My friend in cali has an e92 m3 with modified exhaust, and he never gets any tickets. I just think cops are prone to catch hondas, subarus, mitsubishis, and etc. In fact other than speeding tickets, I don't think he gets anything else. on the other hands, ff I were a cop, I think I would do the same lol...."you, pull over for having a rice wing"

the thing is I have to pay $25 for the bail amount (v.little) and proof pass - which I have to go to the referee to get my car inspected. The officer did not give me certain amount of payment, just inspections from referee. That is why I'm asking if I go to the referee and get my car inspected do I need to part out my car?

Have not, should I? I thought contacting an attorney will make things more complicated?
