Chain Stretch Pics
My Evo is currently at the local Evo shop getting fixed for an oil leak an a CV boot leak that Mitsui won't warranty (I won't even wanna discuss that story)...I asked them to check on my timing chain while the cover's off anyway. They called me today saying my chain's still good to go but there is some stretch, although within specs. They said the car may be good for another 10-15k miles...my Evo currently has 43k on it, basic bolt-ons & not tracked, just DD.
I went ahead and told them to replace the chain to save time and labor...they said we didn't need to replace the oil pump chain. I'm guessing since my chain's not stretched out of spec in the first place?
Hopefully everything works out fine...

But if your engine cover etc is off , it is a good idea to the upgraded redesigned chain. That way you will save some money.
2008 gsr
that's what i figured as well...might as well save some time and money.

2011 + have the new chain. My car is a late model build June 2010 getting the motor built right now and putting in the revised chain since I'm already in there. I'll check to see if I had the new chain already though
Curious to know how you are sure the 2011+ have the new chain...?
Just an honest question since I have a 2011

My motors getting built so I decided to get the new upgraded timing chain. My car was built in july 2010 so I was hoping maybe I got lucky and got the new chain the 11's supposedly had. Once in their we realize I didn't. Shop sent me some picks for comparison while putting it in. My motor has 35k miles. I've had an 8k rev limit since about 10k

Doesn't look like much. What you guys think.

DSMs had crankwalk, Evo X have chain stretch.
And just like crankwalk, some cars will get it, some won't. (knocks on wood)
My theory, this has something to do with parking your car in gear on a hill or similar.
