Should I get a Navigation system
Should I get a Navigation system
I am getting a 2011 GG MR-t in late september. The only option I need to consider is whether of not to get the Navigation system. So what are the advantages of getting the navigation system? What feature do you get besides navigation? How do you update the maps as they age? What other information do I need to know?
maybe it's just me but a carputer or other aftermarket touch screen head unit with nav etc that are much nicer than the factory ones can be bought and installed for a lot less than what the dealer option costs
I wanted it, but I couldn't justify the $2k price tag for it. $1k and I would have ordered it. It does come with some nice extras like the media server hard drive, maintenance logs, DVD player, all the GPS device goodies, etc.
The dealer can update your maps, but it's pricey. If you order the nav system make sure they include the most recent update.

The only great part about it besides the "gps" which garmin could cost you 300 bucks instead is the 40 gb harddrive space. You just put in a cd and it rips in then you never have to deal with cds...
I havent done my research at all but I bet it is possible to get an aftermarket multimedia system with gps that would cost a lot less than the mitsu one.

i have it, it's actually OK... the GPS is completely ****ed up, but i think i just don't have the right updates. I miss my volume control knob, it just has the +/- buttons.. just standard navigation and 40gb music storage, dvd/cd player..
what i did like was that you can manage settings of your car through it, for example how many beeps when locking/unlocking, how long your lights stay on after opening the door, stuff like that (but nothing extremely necessary)
all in all, for $2k a ripoff, but if it's going to be thrown into your loan, just get it, IMO it makes the interior look way better.. and when people ask, "do you have navi?" you can say, "hell yeah" with a big smile

I think the price is a total rip off, but it does make the interior look better, and it has neat things like average fuel economy on your last few trips and stuff.
