Drop in or cone filter?

Dont know which one to do? Putting in the drop in is what alot of ppl do and it works. But can i jus take the box out n put on a cone filter and get the same results?? Anybody that has done the cone, have u had problems or things to be careful about? Thanks!

The cone will be better results with more sound but more expensive.

Also make sure its tight enough where it won't pop off, that can skrew up the MAF sensor...

if ur going with a cone, get a new silicone inlet tube as well (i.e cobb) the accordion inlet tube can actually cause fluctuations cause of the design

Then i might as well jus get an aftermarket intake! Are there any proven number of drop in vs a cone filter?

if you go the cone filter route, make sure you also shield it from the airflow of the electric fan to prevent erratic idle/stalls whenever the fan turns on.

I think I am gonna try the cone myself. I want some more turbo noise coming out from under that hood of mine!

Open element filter will probably produce more power but be aware of the ac/heat issues. Its more of an annoyance but if its your dd either get a heat shield or keep the air box this will deflect the cooling fan trubulance that kills your idle and starting from a dead stop. Personally I went with the cobb sf and silicone inlet pipe very happy with the results just waiting for a good heat shield to block the turbulance

I currently am using an AEM intake that utilizes the snorkel. I'm pretty sure there are other aftermarket intakes that use it as well. I like the AEM intake because I can hear the turbo spool and the stock BOV going off lol
