I was thinking it was normal to. Just wanted to double check. because especially after reving it and holding it at 5500 rpms its real slow to go down. it kind of holds there for a couple seconds before slowly dying down.

^^ Nope, I haven't been over on 8 for a few weeks. There is a black Lancer in town.. might've been him. Besides us, there's only a few other X's I know of.. another black one up 8 near SR, a blue one in Mars, and I think there's also a red one from Cranberry.

What causes this long lasting RPM hold? i've seen it in changing gears even while playing around... I'm coming from owning a 300z, had all light drive tran stuff light weight fly wheel, aluminum shaft all that, and it never had this prolonged RPM hold that the X has... just curious what causes that. i could see it being an issue in weight on the fly wheel, from a moment prospective, but thats the only thing i can think it'd be?

i think the X's stock FW is relatively light. Im thinking its electrical (the ECU).
Makes daily driving shifting harder dont it?

It sure does make ya cautious not to miss any shifts!! not that thats a problem, but if ya do miss one that engine is gonna hold your revs up for an embarrassing amount of time, anyone who didn't noticed you missed the shift sure does after the prolonged rev. Also takes the way the fun of throttling the engine at stop lights, ya can't really show off the peppiness of it due to it never really falling back out of revs allowing ya to play the throttle again.

this is a launch control

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hly0IoNZiJ4

everything else in the stock cars just a marketing to call it a launch control. It is there to prevent dummy's brake the drive train. But you can use it for launching too. The reason why is not a true launch control since as soon as you partially release the clutch you can rev it as high as you want it. You can even blow the engine.
the real launch control is not connected to the clutch pedal movement. It is speed related, so its always on. The speed is 0mph its on, if you move it shuts off, and if you go back to 0mph its on again. Wont matter what you do with a clutch. not like the stock evo. Rule of thumb , you should not sit on launch control over 5 sec.

PS: you can here it and see it how much launch controls differs based on the tune - set up - driver preference. Ignore the STI's thay lame ... LOL (just joking)

the emission control, the ecu does it, they try to get rid of the unburned fuel as much as they can. So they let the REV hanging there for a sec or two. I hate it. And with a throttle tune they can get a rid of it. At least the tuner did it with mine when i had a stock ecu still.
Its annoying , but supposidly better for the enviroment, as much as i understand it.
