Probably about $5-6k. It doesn't seem like a logically decision to dump insane amounts of money into a car when it adds absolutely no value to the car, despite what many may think. The only cars I would highly modify are supercars like GTR, Gallardo, etc.
I agree. There comes a point where the investment, past a certain point, is not worth it or logical, but to each his own as that's what life is all about.

Personally, if I were upwards of 20-30k in mods, I would have considered a new M3. Or a quality used Z06.

The Evo is still faster, handles better, with the right mods

Handling better than a z06???

Maybe if the weather was less than perfect I'd completely agree. But the C6 Z06 handles like it's also on rails.

A standard Z06....No. Look at the track results. The upgraded model with Magnetic ride control... Of course but now your talking about a 100K car.

False.

On the ring:
C6 Z06 7:42
ZR1 7:41
Evo X GSR 7:57

That's a 15 second difference, which is significant.

The Evo X is a great car, but it's no z06. And the amount required to build one to compete with a stock z06, to me, is economically unfeasable.

You're right. It falls 15 seconds behind, but seats 4 doing it

Exactly, and would beat the **** out of it the minute the weather changes to anything but perfect.

I love the Evo but magnetic ride control or not a Z06 would stomp even a moderately modified Evo. And if the Z06 is modded at all you can forget it altogether. I've seen some ridiculous Z06's

$7k so far but that doesn't include the price of my tranny and TC rebuild from shep right now. That will be quite a bit of cash for a slow car

this winter I will spend another $5k or so to get around 400-450hp

Z06's have snap over steer that'll kill ya though, in my Evo I'm fully confident flooring it safely zo6 I'd be nervous. I'd go gtr over the vette, and still may get one after the Evo is paid off.

With 610 wheel I'm sure you've spent a pretty penny. I would love a 900x kit from ams though...

I never regret the amount I put into my projects, it's just an investment in my happiness.

If there is no danger there is no fun. lol. Just kidding. You are right, the Z is a handful but if you are a good driver there is an awful lot of reward driving it. I messed with one of a winding road and he was glued to my bumper. I couldn't shake him no matter what I tried. lol Anyone that says the newer Vettes and particularly the Z06 and ZR1 can't handle simply doesn't know what they are talking about.
