I Met my fiancé at the spa since she realized she forgot her wallet at home, anyways while she was finishing up the question arose... How much have I spent on my Evo thus far and what could I have done with the cash. I was astonished at the amount, I've spent having such a stock looking car going on only 5 years

Here's my break down give or take what I couldn't remember, what's yours?

Money spent
Two exedy stage two clutches $ 1200

Evo IX cmc $500
Two stock tires $ 800
Ets 02 down pipe $350
Ams test pipe $ 300
Greddy T-ic cat back $ 795
Tein monoflex $ 1800
Coil install $300
Tt intake forge bov/install $600
Ams uic pipe $ 300
Mbc $ 90
Ti strut tower nuts $60
tune $450
tune $300
Cobb ap $300
Arc shift knob $250 w/shipping
t1r boot $40
Leather interior $1200 shipped/installed
Tints $ 300
Tint removal $100
Sss head lights $ 300
Ralliart tails $150
Do luck Trunk $900 shipped
Tein rubber silencers 4 $40 shipped

Lol, I've put in $10,000 and it's only got 500 miles on it. It's my 2 birthdays, 1 Christmas and 1 Divorce present to myself.

I wanted the car exactly the way I thought it should have rolled off the lot from Mitsu.

And although a lot of people say just save money for a GTR, honestly an Evo is a much better DD in every way.
Stage 2 Evos are already supercar performance. And you can terrify 3 friends in comfort.

I have much more than you invested in my car.. but you're looking at it all wrong..

You have to ask yourself.. How much would you pay to live out your dream.

See owning a fast and cool looking car was always a dream of mine, and sure I've spent quite a coin on it but after 7 years I've accomplished one of my lifetime dreams. There might be a new car that comes out but with the power I'm making the evo will always be my garage queen. It brings out a smile that I found nothing can satisfy. (I'm not talking about women.. I'm married so that's already been met).

You then compare your measely thousand dollars and start to think about these 70-100K super cars.. Sure they look nice but wow for what I've put in my car.. I am enjoying all of the wow factors at a fraction of the cost.. And the best part of all.. My car is now finished.. only now left for final cosmetics and final touches.

I'll put it to you this way.. when my car was down for the winter... I had so much money in the bank because I simply couldn't find anything else on this world that I wanted to spend my money on.. I don't care about drinking, nor having the latest fashion.. I have enough clothes and my supped up computer..

I think you should be glad that you have found a passion in this life that you truly care about.. so much that spending 16-60K on mods flew by so fast that you didn't even notice it..

Not only that but other people spend money on maintenance as well.. so don't think you're the only one putting a few thousand dollars in your car.. The difference is you smile every-time at the sound of that engine and they might not.

Hope this gives some perspective.

@Jedi_Grill ve well said. Plus its not like you put 16k down all a once. This was all over a period of time so really you might have saved 500 here and 1000 there but eventually it would have gone to something and you would forget what for :/ at least you put it into something amazing.
