Short of a Nissan GT-R or Corvette Z06, there isn't much out there that would match a Evo in driving enjoyment and all around awesome. Everything else either costs too much, doesn't measure up, or are expensive to get to the 400hp mark.

There are plenty of deals on Evo Xs.

I also sent in 12k of mod receipts, and got 10k for that

Got way more back then if I parted it out
I have about 7k into the car. But basically only thing not damage in my mods are my intake and 3port haha. Wheels and coils are destroyed.

I bought the car because USAA kept telling me that my Evo was totalled and that wasn't the case after nunmerous calls to them trying to find out what's going on. USAA wouldn't have paid for the car, I don't think (that's if it was a total) it would have been on the other person who caused the accident, their insurance (progressive) would have paid. Its a long story....but in short, I'm going to sell the Evo because I'm at a point in my life where I can't keep up with all the maintenance and spend time with my soon to be wife. Besides I can save more money with the Max....even though it's not nearly as fun. So I'm selling the car and the parts and using the money to pay some debts.....

Update. Found out today engine is officially seized. 6k in body damage not including my wheels or tires. Now they pulling the bumpers off to look at the frame. Idk why they are not just totaling it yet ahh. The best engine the adjuster found was an 50k mile engine which is 20k more then mine had so I am kinda clueless why they still looking into it.

Unless terribly destroyed the wheels might not be to much more. They will send them in to a shop that can re-surface them.

Forgive this possibly stupid question but I am not a mechanic and have not really worked on cars to often before. But if a motor seizes up, can it be un-seized? I mean are there things they can do to un-seize it even if this means ripping it apart and putting it together?

Maybe this is why they are checking for frame damage now. Maybe they figure it will be like $2-$3k to have the motor repaired. Even if the wheels and tires come in at $1k more, you will have $7k in cosmetic and if it is around $3k for motor repair then you will be sitting at about $10k in damages.

I have only had 1 vehicle stolen in my life and 1 vehicle totaled out from damages. But as I've said in previous posts, my understanding (atleast for Texas) is if you have a theft recovery they will force you to take back the car. Ofcourse you can always hire a lawyer and fight them on it, but there practice is you get the vehicle back after they have checked it out and fix the issues that they have recognized. And the insurance company doesn't total out the vehicle unless the damages exceed repair or their is frame damage.

I would assume if there is no frame damage and they can repair your engine and cosmetic issues and all of this costs less then the cars value, you will get your car repaired and get it back.

One wheel is missing about 8 inches of my lip. All the other ones are pretty banged up. Wouldn't not be suprised if the front right is bent and the driver side ones are pretty bad surface damage (they might be able to get repaired) but 1200 for wheels and 900 for my tires they were less than a month old and now look like they slicks so but 8k in body damage I would awesome. They don't know about my coils yet so maybe another 1400 as I said he hit about a 4 foot hole that was 4 feet long. As far as the engine being seized the dealer said they doubt they will ask them to rebuild it but could be a possibility. The kid didn't know how to drive stick so I have no doubt theres transmission damage. Dealer said an estimated anywhere between 6-12k for a rebuild with the damages they know of now to the engine. But I would just take it somewhere else and get it built if it comes down to it and pay the difference. We shall see I'll post another update hopefully today since they just got the ok to look at the frame. Seems every part of the damn car they go to look at they have to get approved by the adjuster..

With the above damage they will total it. Clutch has to be destroyed also plus transmission damage, hopefully you have receipts for suspension and other mods you have on the car. Demand that the transmission be looked at. They will probably be afraid of that. Start calling out things in the drive train like differential and Ayc pump anything you can think of that could possibly be damaged. It will start to freak out the adjuster and get them closer to totaling it. If there is frame damage it will total the car if not it will be hard to add up. I can only see frame damage if the car impacted something solid. These cars have an inflated value because of demand I think especially the GSR's. They are worth more than the sum of their parts. So it takes alot of damage to total one. Remember the insurance company looks for the cheapest way out, so finding expensive parts for them to check out makes them look at $$$ adding up, they my decide it's cheaper to total than to check out all those possibly damaged parts.

at the rate they are finding damage , they will probably total it.

The siezed engine would be great to buy back as you can build up the block ( unless it has a hole through it )

I had a Tuned G35 putting down 269whp and 248tq. Not bad numbers for an NA but after awhile I got bored of it and their oil consumtion issues just sucked! Finally motor blew got another one wasnt as strong as the first so I got bored and went looking at cars again. I decided on the X because ive always loved Evos just never really looked into getting one. Test drove it and I was in love! So it was a must have for me. Traded the G in and got one and will never look back. And to turbo a z/g its EXPENSIVE! Almost not even worth it then your looking at getting maybe 11-16mpg depending on power and tune. A Guy down here in DFW is putting down 450ish? He is getting 12mpg! My NA G got 17mpg no matter how I drove it. I DID like how I could change the map WHILE driving!!
my 2 cents

Stay with Evo!
If you get something else you will have buyers remorse. And if your driving a different car (non Evo) and tell yourself I can live with this, your doomed.
