Brake Failure

My brakes completely stopped working on the freeway a couple days ago. I was going around 90 and let off the gas. Something weird went on with the revs and they kind of went crazy on their own. Then my brake pedal went stiff and I had to e brake to a gas station. Whenever I tried starting it again the revs shot back and forth from 1-3k until the car died. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems? My car is in the shop right now and I don't know what's wrong with it yet. The car is completely stock.

Did you buy used? Could it have been returned to stock with a **** tune on it?

Is there a limp mode on the Xs? I know my minivan did the same thing you described when the factory tune was tampered with. It went into limp mode. I sent the ecu out to get it re-programmed and it never happened again.

With the revs shooting up I'm thinking it's not a brake issue but a clutch/trans issue. I'm thinking this because it's your brake fluid that's used to actuate your clutch via CMC, which is known for failures.

Do you have leaking fluid?

Sounds like the hose between the intake and the brake-booster to me. It either came off or the one-way check-valve blew.

Bought it new a few years ago so no tune. I think it's in pieces at the shop now.

No leaking fluid that I know of. I checked for that when I pulled over. It could have been a slow leak.
