Evo X Engine blown a week after buying it
You should be able to obtain an invoice FROM COBB stating the true purchaser of the parts/labor. If it is IN YOUR NAME, then you are ****ed beyond all recognition. If the invoice states that the parts were sold to the dealership, then that is a different story. Paying for parts and labor shows intent to have not-road-legal parts installed on a car being sold as a road car (this designation will appear in your paperwork). Unfortunately, you may end up needing to work with COBB on this one. The engine blowing is cut and dry their fault (unless you messed with the tune).
Post the name of the dealership. I guarantee they have a different story.

You really need to pay a lawyer for an hour or so of his or her time. One thing to check before doing this is whether they really sold you a car with a complete Cobb Stage 3 package. Most of all, I want to know if they sold you a car with a test-pipe on it.
Also, practice the following with a friend. Have the friend say "I'm sorry, but Mitsubishi won't honor the warranty." Then you say "I can see why you're sorry. I bought the car from you and not Mitsubishi."

Something is REALLY wrong with the stuff that COBB sold you. Either the tune wasn't properly installed on the car -OR- the 3-port that they sold you was borked. Basically what happened is your car over-boosted itself to pieces.
I spent hours reading whatever I could on dealer-installed options voiding powertrain warranties and it's really complicated. The few cases where I could get details (often involving SLP kits on F-bodies) came down to what was actually written on the invoice, whether the car still had the "with warranty" window sticker when delivered, and whether the judge was born on an odd or ever-numbered day. (OK, that last one is a joke.) It's a mess. I am sticking with the suggestion that you (Leon) talk to a lawyer in OK. Definitely don't listen to some internet lawyer (me).

I suppose if I'm allowed to suggest that they may have sold a car without a cat, then you're allowed to suggest misleading paperwork, but it wouldn't be forgery if they did. It would be fraud.
And, yes, I'm aware that I'm being excessively **** (as usual).

Yeah, we're pretty sure about what happened. The question (in my mind) is who pays to fix the car. If you haven't touched anything, then whatever warranty you had when you drove off the lot is in play. The question is whether you had a warranty and, if so, from whom.
It had a hfc by the way. Well I talked to the dealership, now they're wanting me to give them an estimate of how much the evo will be to fix. And that they would cut me a deal and charge me a lot less supposedly. I just don't see why I have to pay for someone else's mistake.
We're talking thousands of dollars. You need to know if you have a warranty. As much as I love and respect that guy who says "I'm not a lawyer, but I can read," you need a real lawyer, not some schmuck on the interweb. My guess is that they know they're on the hook for this (because that seems more likely than the alternative: that they're just being nice). Agreeing to a deal might make it impossible to enforce the warranty later.
You need a lawyer. Just for an hour. A couple hundred dollars.

You are saying the dealer installed an aftermarket set up on your new car, and they are denying you warranty?
That's BS, if they don't warranty aftermarket parts they install, they shouldn't have done it in the first place.
I didn't even know dealerships installed aftermarket car mods. Did they even install the tune on your car? or just the cobb stage 3 bolt-ons? Did they give you an Accessport?

Did the car come with this buyers guide? It is required by the FTC if so which box was checked? If not you have an FTC complaint it should be with your paperwork that you signed with the sales manager. If the box checked says warranty they should be liable, if it is "As is" your liable simple as that. If they refuse be nice request they reconsider in writing, send it certified mail then hire an attorney that will work on contingency.
