Can I get some suggestions....

I want to do a MAP 2.2 and my ultimate goal is to hit 750hp. As you can see in my signature, I have already done some things to my car and my question is what out of the items below would I need to upgrade and what would I need to add to be able to hit that 750hp mark. I want my torque at around 650 or so. Any help would be appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, what do you plan to do with the car? DD, Track, Drag, DynoQueen??

Just purely a toy. I just plan on building the car up to what I want and driving it every once and a while. I just paid it off and I have another vehicle to drive so this just sits in the garage most of the time unless I am doing some work to it or occasionally driving it around on the weekends. So needless to say, my $450 payment is gone and I will be able to use that money along with what I already have to put a little more into my car. Also, I got a shop to do all of my previous work all at one time and this time, I want to do all of the work myself(with the exception of the MAP 2.2) on any upgrades I do and then take it somewhere to get the tune done.

Well hell, if money is no issue then BIG turbo and stroke that thang out!!! 2.3 kit is NASTY! Of course necessary fuel upgrades, new or port/polished head, maybe some V3 cams...biggest issue to your goal, and I just take my previous statements lightly lol as thos mods arnt necessary for your goals but in all seriousness. ..(damn phone, had to edit)

Drivetrain limits are thus exceeded
Asc/Ayc system usually limited to about 350awhp or so
Axles are glass at that horsepower range
Diffs need a build along with Tcase and trans if your going to actually use that power...even from a rolling start the drivetrain is still placed in a bind and such high torque numbers still place excessive stress on those components
Driveshaft should be upgraded but I have seen Xs in that power range without it
As strong as the gsr's drivetrain is it will inevitably be your limiting factor and a commonly overlooked problem as most builds focus on the motor/head/cams/etc...so I'd start with that...set a good platform for you X before taking the time to mod for power. If you have the cash and time its better to start that way than to start building it and then run into axle/diff/etc...issues in the process.

^^agree with that guy you already got some power build your drivetrain so you wont have any problems putting it down when you increase your numbers. Also focus on whats the car being built for purely a toy can mean anything

Don't really have anything to focus on as far as what my car is for. It isn't for anything specifically, just a very fast car to take out of the garage every once and a while.

Thanks for the info, I didn't think of it from that point and sounds like a good place to start. Gonna start looking into what I can do first...

Diffs! Axles are weak but would be my second step as the diffs take an absurd amount of abuse. After that and the axles then focus on trans and tcase as it would be a waste not to do them together...a good clutch after the trans/tcase build...good short throw (people often forget that the factory shifter doesnt have stops and thus the possibility of overextending a shift puts undue wear on the forks...along with increased strain on shifter bushings and linkages)...good linkage bushings, then maybe some poly trans and motor mounts to reduce the movement of those components allowing excessive tilting/undue binding of the drivetrain. Lastly I would finish up with a COMPLETE poly bushing kit for the car just to stiffen the feel/response and for peace of mind by replacing overlooked and wearable hardware. Hope this helps

Thanks, I have been looking at diffs and axels for the past hour or so and I think I need to learn more about the EVO drivetrain before I jump into something. I am seeing front diffs on one site, rear diffs on another site, axels without shepard diff, axels with a shepard diff.

Does anyone know of anywhere that shows a good diagram or explanation of how it all works on the X so that I can make some educated buys?

I would just contact Shep to be honest man...a lot of companies market the use of all these UPGRADED parts and components and charge an arm and a leg for some of the smallest things.

Shep transmissions, while they do upgrade known parts that fail, typically use OEM components for their builds and they will tell you first hand that, "Its not necessarily the parts that are the problem but the assembly process that gets ya." Most OEM parts are very well made and of higher grade than you might think; however, the fact that its assembled on a line and in mass numbers is what results as "weak link" parts as quality control measures taken at the factory are only subject to tolerance levels not exceeding stock. Shep takes the time to build the trans/diffs/tcases properly and are subject to a higher form of abuse than any stock component could handle.

That being said, I had a '95 Eclipse GST with a Stage 2 shep built tranny and it was the BOMB! Never had an issue, 800whp capable and backed by their warranty. If I was to invest any time or money into building those components I would highly recommend Shep Transmissions.

As far as the drive axles/CV axles of the X go...Shep usually, along with other top dogs, suggests ordering them from The DriveShaft Shop...marketing equipment with a tolerance of upwards of 1000awhp capable and time proven shafts. Any questions about the drivetrain should be brought up to Shep, they are a small shop but they have a great turn around and SUPERB customer service, all of their techs are extremely knowledgeable and love to chat.

Oh, and in no way shape or form and I affiliated with Shep...I not only have personally used their products but have witnessed first hand the level of abuse 6/7/800awhp EVOs put them through...9 second EVOs leaving at the limiter on slicks time and time again has sold me, now given there is always a weak link and something subject to breaking at that power level but for as long as I've seen them last its worth the investment. I can say I've never seen a shep trans break, I've seen build axles/diffs/tcases break but never a trans...

Give 'em a call man, its always worth asking!
