New evo owner and I have questions!!

New to the form. Looking at buying a 2008 evo gsr. Now the guy says it idling rough when there is any other gas than 91 shell. Iv been trying to do research about idling issues and does this seem like a legit claim or is he tying to cover something up ? Iv read that rough idling could be caused from dry hoes or clamps. He also is saying the car needs a new acd pump and was wondering if. Should be concerned about this. The car is completely stock just a new k&n filter (not the whole intake just filter)

Thanks guys I would really appreciate any insight

Just get a 2010+ from a certified dealer. I would never personally get a 5 year old evo with more than 35k miles. It's worth the investment to get one with a warranty and from a dealer

Never buy an evo with plans to fix it unless you can get it at a steal and have a budget of $5-10k after purchase. You'll end up in the hole.

I agree, the rough idle could be something simple like the fpr vacuum line coming off or it could be something much more serious. The ayc pumps are prone to failing but I believe they are covered under warranty so I would definitely look at other evos.

If the fuel-pressure line wasn't clamped and has fallen off, that can affect idle (and/or kill the engine at WOT).

A dry hoe, in contrast, usually just gives you a disease.

Concerned? Nah. You should be too busy running away from this deal as fast as your current car, bicycle, or legs can carry you. You should be in too much fear to have any energy left over for something like concern.

Most people get custom tunes on Evo's anyhow, so the rough idle can be tuned right out.

I'm wondering if the guy had a few bolt-ons and a tune. Now maybe he took the bolt-ons off to pass it as "stock" and didn't bother re-tuning so now it's running like poop.

The only time I have ever had idling issues is when its extremely hot out. Other than that, never had an issue.

If any of you has a Blue 2008 with a good ACD/AYC pump, but a bad idle, PM me about a swap, since you obviously have different priorities than I.
