Well, if you're into silver linings, no-one can hot-wire your car if your hot-wire (MAF) is broken. tee hee

Update-- apparently one of my computers burnt out due to a possible manufacturing defect which then caused 2 of my o2 sensors to fail also. Parts are on order and should get the car back and up next week.

Now to the dealership is saying that because I replaced the trunk with a wingless trunk and didn't connect the driver's side tail light correctly that caused the problem and they're going to void my warranty. The work isn't going to be covered. Can anyone give me some advice?

Does not seem correct to me.

Wow. I suppose that it's possible for miswiring a tail-light to damage the ECU, but it seems rather doubtful. In any event, that's what you need to focus on. A toasted ECU can destroy a heated O2 sensor, so everything depends on the ECU issue.

Maybe their bad ECU killed your tail light, and not the other way around. Do they know for sure it was wired improperly? ...Sounds like they're wrongfully pointing fingers. I would guess if the light was wiredf wrong, it would have popped the bulb or a fuse before the ECU!!

Theres no way miswiring tail lights would cause 1. o2 sensors to go bad, and 2. kill the ecu. thats like saying, i changed the dome lights inside and it messed up the transmission, they are 2 different things on 2 different platforms. you should be asking them how taillights are related to the ecu and o2 sensors, and tell them you want detailed explanation from which wire to wire leades to what and kills what, i know that sounds a little confusing but, if the dealership wants to make $$ from you and prob. from Mitsu, they wont be able to answer your demand of explanation.

Thanks for all your help!! I really appreciate your posts. Mitsubishi honored the warranty and replaced the damaged computer and fuel injector transistor which caused my car to stall after a few seconds. The o2 sensors were not damaged after all. I had the dealer install my original trunk (SSS) just so I won't have any issues should one present itself. My wingless trunk will be for sale soon.

Thanks again! !

Im glad they honored your warranty and not try to feed you some bs so they dont have to perform the needed repairs for free. Some dealerships are just so shady. Good luck with your car in the future!
