I keep throwing the "Timing Chain Light". Whats the deal?

I had my chain replaced about three weeks ago after taking off the VC and confirming that it was stretched(was one of the unlucky 2010 owners with an old chain). About one week later I had the light come back on. I ended up pulling the VC back off and seeing that the chain is still as tight as it was when it was replaced. I had a shop(Not dealer) clear the code for me then, three days later it pops back up. Whats the deal?

Im not sure what tool the shop used to reset the code after the install. Im beginning to think it may be a relearn issue. Any idea guys?

I would also be worried that the ECU wasn't reset when the new chain was installed. Can you go back to the shop and ask exactly what they did?

I am about 80% sure they didn't use a MUT3. Are there any other ways to perform a relearn other than the MUT tool?

EDIT: Well i think i may have found the answer to my own question. Just talked to the shop. Apparently they just used a "standard scan tool" to clear the code.
Looks like its off to Mitsubishi for me!

Yep. A plain scanner would clear the code, but not reset the stretch-measuring gizmo to zero.

I also had a shop replace my timing chain then had to go to Mitsubishi to reset the learned value. They did it for free as they were doing some recall work.
