Oil pump noise?

So, I'll be going to the dealer about this once I got some time;
When I accelerate through 2900 rpm I get this whine coming from the passenger side engine bay area. I know the videos audio quality is crap, but you can definitely hear it. Near the end of the video I'm holding at around 3000 rpm and slowly lower rpm to 2950, 2900... you can definitely hear it. Thoughts?
It's annoying as hell..

Definitely filmed with a potato.
It's either your PS pulley or your idler pulley. My idler pulley was making a whining noise that was RPM dependent. I ended up thinking it was the PS pump and replaced that. No change. Finally changed my idler pulleys to the updated metal ones and voila! No whine.

I found the cause of the noise I was experiencing. It was something to do with the oil and the oil pump.
Car now has 2500 km on it, I just changed the oil earlier with Mobil1 and a new oil filter, the noise is completely gone.

I'm kind of shocked, really.
I'm now curious of what the cause would be. I wonder if the factory filter was clogged up from all the crap that floats around in the oil due to engine break in. And I wonder if the car even came with synthetic from the factory. The dealer did say it does but I'm not so sure.

It is the oil pump. I had the same issue on mine - drove me nuts so much so that I got rid of the car. I've had two different Evo Xs (2008 and 2013). My 2008 never had a noise like that. My 2013 did. The dealer said the noise was "normal" even after I showed him that other Evo X owners were getting their oil pump replaced. They said they couldn't do anything for me. At that point I just said screw it and traded in the car for a new BMW M3.

To your point about changing the oil to to Mobil 1. I did that as well and it helped...but only for a little bit and the sound came back after about 1,000 miles. I hate to say it, but keep listening for the sound and it might come back - or it might not.

I've also seen guys posting on this forum that even after they've convinced their dealership to replace the oil pump, even with the new oil pump after 1,500 or so miles the sound came back.

I do gotta say, when I drained the oil in was pretty ****ty looking. Almost brownish. Kinda wish now I changed it sooner... Around 1000 km.

I have a 14 GSR and this sound came back about 1200 miles after the previous oil change. I used Mobile 1 full syn.

Well that sucks. It's really annoying. If it comes back I'll be playing around with different oils and viscosities.

I've started to do the same thing. I first changed the oil after 500 miles to Pennzoil Ultra Syn 5w30. Same issue (cant remember when the sound first started to occur). Changed to Mobile 1 ful syn 5w30 at 3000 miles. It was back about 1200 miles later. I'll keep experimenting at the next few oil changes but I have a feeling nothing will change. I love my X though so I'll just deal with it.

I had a 08 MR that had this noise. Gone after an oil change.
I now have a 14 GSR had this noise after 400 miles on clock.
Changed oil at 2k , noise is gone after.
Right now , I am at 4.5k, and noise is coming back slowly.
I don't mind it, whenever I heard it, I remind myself I need an oil change soon.

I think you worry about too much. it is not the T case, but our noisy oil pump.

In my case it was definitely the oil pump. It's been 850 km since the oil change and noise hasnt come back. I'll be sure to report back once.. -if- it does.
