Quick question about mods with no tune.

I am currently in the market for a intercooler and most likely aiming at the ETS black intercooler because i think the aluminum one ruins the front black theme on the evo. Anyway, Would it be harmful to drive with a Upper intercooler pipe and ets intake with no tune? If not, for how long? Can i go months? years? decades?

I just want all my parts then get a tune. If it will be harmful to add a upper pipe then i most likely will wait.

I was going to get a COBB Accessport but i'm to accident prone and will most likely break something. So just gonna hit up a local dyno.

Don't beat the hell out of it or go full throttle/boost. Just cruise. Yes it's ok to drive until you get the tune. If you're still having trouble deciding, run a search. This has been covered many times.

You can also email/pm ETS about their parts.

The upper intercooler pipe is no problem at all, you can install that and run the car forever without any type of tune. But the ETS intake should wait until you get the tune, I would wait til you have everything you want, then install it all in one go and head straight to the tuner.

Anything other than the UICP is a risk honestly, yes the ETS intake uses the stock MAF housing, but it still alters the way air flows into and out of the MAF housing which could alter the readings somewhat.

If you really want to be safe, stock pile your parts until everything is purchased and ready. Then install it all at once, it's sucks but this is the best way to insure that car won't hate you later on.

Upper Pipe and ETS Intake is no problem to run for a while without a tune.

I did it for a while and not a problem. Is a good idea to have a boost monitor
and airfuel gauge. Should be 2 of your first mods .

Thank you guys for the information. I will install the upper pipe and the intake has already been installed and working fine without a tune. Yes i am planning on getting everything i need before this tune and i will not be asking many questions. I just need to know what people regretted not getting before their tune if they were just go to mod for less 400hp.

I believe before the tune i will need a Grimmspeed Electronic Boost Control Solenoid 3-Port? Correct?

I do not want many mods and i am trying to stay mainly bolt ons. I just need the main things before this tune because after it i am not going further.

Yes you will need a boost controller. Grimmspeed 3port would work fine

The most common bolt-on set includes the following:

Intake
UICP
3-port EBCS
Test pipe/Hi-flow Cat
Cat-back Exhaust
Set of gauges: Oil pressure, boost pressure, A/F Ratio
Pro-tune/E-tune

Some opt for the additional:

Intercooler
LICP (almost no gains)
Downpipe (minimal gains)

You can expect to see around 330-350hp at the wheels without doing the optional stuff.
Hope this helps!
