Because I've had experiences where a bad battery or a battery going bad would allow you to crank for quite a while. Then maybe it would sputter and start up or it would just keep cranking. Suggestion was sound <shrug>

Suggesting a simple thing to check and rule out isn't bad advice.

If you can crank a car for 30 seconds, or minutes. You absolutely, 100% do not have a bad battery.

I've had a few instances where a racecars electronics need a certain voltage for the engine to start. So, the battery could make it crank but it wouldn't start. However, that is simply 100% not the case with the evo. They will start when the battery can barely get the motor to crank because it's almost dead.

It is bad advice when it's a waste of time. And going to the dealer ship could result in a $130 diag fee when they don't find anything wrong.

That's different than my life of experiences with dying / dead batteries, if it behaves differently in the EVO thanks for sharing info. I haven't had a battery die in my EVO yet.

Of note however, I didn't suggest the dealership I suggested a battery test at like an OReiley's or Autoparts store, which is free.

it doesnt behave differently, Every battery behaves the same, as he said, if the car can crank 30 seconds to 5 min you dont have a bad battery/low voltage problem

So this is what prompted me to look into fuel relays. Eventually I figured out the sealed tall, orange ones are the "better" of the "best" relays. I changed from the new improved, stock sealed small, black ones. Was it my initial problem? Don't know but haven't had the issue...although the car has never sat again for a week either.

I'll add that it sat in a garage @ about 40-45 degrees for that week.

The car is under full warranty. There would be no cost. Let the dealer figure it out.

Did you by any chance wash the car right before you put it away? I had this happen on a Evo and a regular lancer. Washed car (weather was damp), put away for a few days, went to start and I swear I had a low battery. Battery tested fine. Something got wet and didn't dry out. It was all very odd.

Completely untrue. You apparently have never taken a car to the dealer for warranty repair. They 99.99% of the time have you preauthorize whatever they charge for an hour of diagnosis (usually around $130) in the event they find the issue, and it's not covered under warranty.
