Fixing paint chips - clearcoat required?

I haven't seen much info on this. Do we need to use the clear coat part of a paint chip kit? I don't think my 2015 wicked white has a clearcoat, right? I wonder if the new paint on its own would be too dull compared to the paint around it?

I'm planning on putting a clear bra over it.

You're going to want to use a clear or get a single stage touch up paint. I'm pretty sure WW has a clear. The old '03-'05 weightless white was single stage.

It definitely has a clear coat. However,if the chips are tiny/small then you can get away with not clear coating over them. I would recommend buying the genuine Mitsubishi touch up paint. After you do the touch ups and they are thoroughly dry then you should buff with some wax.

Man if the Evo has a clear, it's microscopic lol.

A lot of people hate the OEM paint pens. So I'm leaning towards Dr. Colorchip or paintscratch.com

Does the OEM pen have a brush? Or do you have to use that pointed metal end?

Cool will order one. After fixing, I'll be putting a clear bra up the A pillars. I have a chip above the midpoint somehow. A few hundred in buying the bra will be money saved on fixing chips.
