Stock Evo X as a daily

I’m looking for a new daily and have wanted an Evo ten for a while now. Never driven one before and took a tuned x on a test drive. It was at a dirt lot dealership, ayc pump was shot, lowered, annoying exhaust etc etc. To me, the recaros are uncomfortable as I sat more on top of it rather than in the seats, the pedal spacing is a little too wide, it took off like a ****ing rocket at 1/4 throttle as soon as boost came in.

It was stressful, it was a stressful drive and I didn’t want it after the test. So, I test drove a few other cars and I find myself wanting to go back to the Evo like fent to a Philly zombie. I almost like it more than my bike. It’s an Unnerving car if you’re not used to it and I love/hate it. Should I find an unmolested Evo ten as a daily driver?

I daily'd my Evo X for TEN YEARS, with track events (RR and 1/4 mile), winter (NY), you name it. However, I have a Japanese sized ***, so the seats are super comfortable, and I have the MR so no third pedal....

I also thought my Streetfighter 848 was comfortable, so maybe I'm not the best to answer this post...

I’m closer to hank hill’s *** so it wasn’t that part that was uncomfortable, it was the torso part of the chair. Ive got a wider ribcage and broad shoulders. That 848 is pretty sick! I’m building a yzf750r and it’s comfy.

You could always swap out the driver seat!

true! The recaro specialist m seat looks a lot more comfortable. I’ve decided on getting an Evo, nothing hits quite like it even if it gives me air traffic controller levels of anxiety.

I'm probably too late to this, but here are my two cents if it helps. I don't solely drive mine everyday, but I certainly would not hate my life if it was the only car I could drive. I have a GSR and the only real annoyance is the manual transmission for me. If it were an MR my anxiety levels would definitely be lower but it's not bad after some time. I find everything else fine and the only thing I would maybe want to change is getting a backup camera. I'm quite skinny, but my dad is a good bit bigger than the average person and he loves it. I do have aftermarket seats, but they're incredibly comfortable and I've taken it on several hour drives across states. Like Jaraxle I also live in NY and drive it year round with no issues. I hope you enjoy your evo if you already got it!

I get that, I’ve driven manual exclusively for the past 6 years and sometimes it is an annoyance when parallel parking. But I still enjoy it lol. I’m pretty set on one, haven’t got one yet but I’m saving all my shekels for a super clean low mileage stock gsr this summer. Been scouring marketplace and found a good few candidates.

I'd say 100% dailyable. Everything that the evo is makes up for whatever cons you can think of.
Aftermarket exhausts can be rowdy though especially for long highway drives.
As for the manual side of it, it's a joy to drive!

2015 Evos won't come with Recaros, but then again, they'll come with normal base lancer ones. You can easily go aftermarket, lots of options. Though you'll lose the airbag.

I'm in Brooklyn so I don't drive every day, but it's perfectly fine for normal driving to the strip mall on a weekend, or a road trip. Just did a 200 mile trip out to PA with 2 other people. The RPM will be close to 4000 if you want to do 80, but ~75 puts you around 3600 so very much manageable. Though I have added mass loaded vinyl and butyl rubber on large panels and roof for noise blocking.

Mine is on stock suspension and exhaust. Any mods will affect how comfortable the car is. They say a WRX/STI is more comfortable, could go that route, they also seem to have nice looking relaxed Recaros. I had an OEM Recaro in mine in the passenger side for a while and hated it too, way too high, and the seat base was hard and curved up. Much worse than Evo 8 Recaros.

I'm not sure what you did by now but I have owned my current X for almost 10 years and its been a 3 season daily driver since. It's a dead nuts reliable mid 10 second street car.
During the last 10 years Ive also owned 4 other X GSR's strictly as winter beaters, as well as a few RA's. They have all been amazing. Not much out there that can do everything an Evo does, as well as an Evo does it.
