Now you guys love the design of the Evo 8 and now are bashing the the Evo 9. Pretty soon you guys are going to say that the Evo 9 is the best looking Evo of this generation.
When the Evo X finally comes out you guys are going to say that its fugly. Then in a few years, the Evo XI will be released and you guys are going to say that it's ugly because you guys think that the Evo X rules.

Well to be honest, the CT9A Evolution series (Evos 7 to 9) are beautiful cars. They are headturners on our roads. But the CP9A Evolution series (Evos 5 to 6.5) are the ones that will keep us saying "WOW!!!".
I had noticed that the Evos are actually evolving, from a brute rally car, and now to a high performance street car. Maybe that is why they call it "Evolution".
Even if the 9 is out, Id still give my praises to the Evo 5 (my personal favorite actually). From the time it was only in mags, to the time it came out here, and up to now, it simply is beautiful with that "in your face" look.
For the CT9A Evos, yeah they are still beautiful, but conservative looking. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. We all got different tastes.
Maybe u guys may see the difference here. This was taken during an Evo Club meet here in the Philippines:

From what I read, this person is in no way affiliated with MMC nor is producing licensed concept drawings for them. Just some bored 3D artist.
EVO X News/speculation/bs?
Ok this is my first post, so be gentle. My friend got ahold of some information in his e-mail through his Australian friend. He does not know where his Australian friend got this information, so keep in mind this could be complete BS. But nonetheless, it is interesting info. It seems there are a few inconsistencies, but i'll let you guys point them out.
In a shock announcement, Mitsubishi Motors Japan released the concept and specs of the new Evolution X. The surprise occurred due to the fact that the current model (IX) has only just started production in the past few weeks. The most perplexing notion is the release date of the new Evo.
"We are so excited about this new car," announced Yushimo Katisho the market manager for Ralliart. "We couldn't keep it under wraps. It will be a huge leader in the market and should prove to be dominant in the WRC stage. This is one of the main reasons why the car is released now, so we can get the rally side working again."
"The reality of it," Katisho continued. "Is that we have two teams running development work on the evolution range. The team on the IX really were just creating a face-lift of the VIII while our top engineers have been working tirelessly on the new X."
So what is so good about the new Evo. For starters the platform is completely new, based somewhere between the CE lancer, Cedia design and the new CZ Tarmac. It promises to be smaller and lighter than the current IX allowing for gains to be made in rigidity and cornering.
The engine powerhouse is the first step away from the conventional 4G63 long motor design that served for so long. Keeping the short motor design and platform Ralliart have gone into development with HKS and Greddy to create an amazing twin turbo system that will rock the turbo charged world's foundations.
"With this new setup we are able to create peak torque at 2200rpm and hold that torque to 6900rpm and therefore extend that rally sweet spot. The most amazing development is the end of twin turbo gap and lag. This is like driving with a monster single turbo with low down mombo."
The 4G63 is boosted now with full and complete Mivec and extra capacity going to 2.5 litres which promises to deliver copious amounts of power all the way to the new 8700rpm redline. This being the need created for the new turbo system.
The drive line moves back to the proven 5 speed system for strength to cope with the new found power. The ACD gets more looks at with an extra mode - AutoX - for those tighter and twistier situations. The SAYC is further improved to carry 50% more torque from wheel to wheel and for the first time it is introduced on the front end of the car.
The brakes also get their first upgrade in years. Brembo is left behind and ALCON come to the party. The front brakes now support 6 pot caliper strength while the rears support 4 pot stopping power. The rotors are not left behind with ALCON curve slots as standard.
The car will be availble to the press in the next two weeks with sales expected to start in Japan around mid year.

Most of this sounds like BS.
Bump in displacement? WRC wouldn't let that fly. They need the 2.0L for homolagation requirements unless FIA decided to allow upped displacement or if the 2.5L is USDM only.
They wouldn't be using the 4G63, it's already known that they are moving to a new engine platform with MIVEC.
Ralliart working with HKS AND GReddy? Ralliart works exclusively with HKS, why would they go to GReddy?
Twin turbo?
Switch to Alcons? Highly doubt it, Ralliart is using Brembo on WRC05 and I would doubt they would change the insanely effective Brembos out for something else. Hell, almost all cars out there with high performance brakes as stock equipment use Brembos.
The chassis is up in the air but it'll be shared with Dodge for the new Neon platform and with Diamler-Chrysler for the Mercedes B-Class. Size of the Evo X? I would say a little smaller than a C230.
Transmission is unknown. Proabably 5- and 6-speed manuals. I don't think they'll be using an SMG transmission because it'll too expensive. They might use an SMG tranny for a GT-A version.
And AutoX mode for the ACD?? Why would they need that? Tarmac mode already covers it. Unless the Evo X comes with a variable torque splitting center differential like the STi's I don't think an AutoX mode would be possible.

You pointed out pretty much everything that doesn't make sense about the "announcement". The 2.5L, the twin turbo, and the HKS+Greddy elements seem to be the biggest bs indicators.
I told my friend to e-mail his aussie friend to find out where he got the news. Who knows when I'll hear back from him on that issue.
