HOW TO: Install factory Navigation into a NON-NAV Evo 10
Evo X How Tos / InstallationsPost or link to your detailed how to / installation articles in here. If you have any questions regarding the how tos, feel free to post them in the Request sub-forum.
If I have a 2011 evo x (no navi, just stock radio), am I able to put a navigation system from a 2008-2010 evo on it? I've heard that the connections are different, but is that a cheap fix? Because I can't find any 2011-2013 used navigation units for sale and I do not think it's worth spending $2k for a new one.
I have a 2015 FE with the touch screen/Bluetooth/usb
would like to know if I could just buy the 2015 Nav Unit and plug and play or would also need the install kit.
And which unit number do the 2015's have. Saw one post mention a n-14 and one mention a n-11
I also have a FE and just installed a new factory navi. You will need the install kit. 30 minutes direct plug and play system. I'll post up pictures and part number soon.
Looking forward to seeing the install and part numbers. I went and just bought a Garmin GPS for right now lol.
Here is the navi and kit i purchased from Mitsu. I did not have to install the microphone because we have it from factory already. Takes about 20 minutes if you have some auto experience
Installed the 2015 n-14 into my evo FE. All works great. I went to the dealer to try and have them use the MUT-III tool so I can get the vehicle settings and everything to work through the new head unit. But they couldnt figure it out so they are calling mitsubishi.
Anyone know what setting they are supposed to click on the MUT-III tool?
Not sure you need to use the MUT. I installed an N-02 on an SE, and I was able to get it to "link" to my vehicle (i.e., access to the settings) by using the secret menu (google it, search this site and/or http://mr-fix.info/mitsubishi-mmcs-hidden-menu/). My car is not with me right now, or I would give you more details, but I managed to figure it out. Let me know if you need more information, and I will look once I get back to my car.
Thank you for the pics. How much(time/cost) did it take to run the scan tool at the dealership.

I had no luck at the dealership. They were gonna charge for an hour labor. But they couldnt figure it out with the MUT tool. I showed him the manual that says you can control the ac, see altitude, lap times and such per the radio. Only thing I can think of it maybe its a seperate module?
I also coudnt get a secret menu to pop up.
But if you already have blue tooth, and sat radio those are seperate modules, just plug everything in back of the nav head unit and your settings and such are still there.
Ok I think I may have figured out why the HVAC controls, vehicle menu and such doesn't show up on my NAV unit. Looks like ones that came from factory with the Navi have a CAN Box attached to the unit (box not Bus). The diagram I saw said CAN Box (if navi equipped). Problem now is cant find a part number for the CAN box. But now that I think about it. I think the only open plug left on back was for the back up camera. So It might not be as easy as just plugging in another module.... Who knows lol
