^^^ That sounds more like a temporary fix, not an official solution. ie - my friend owns an 06 mustang GT and it states in the car manual the way to silence the reminder is a series of clipping and un clipping the seat belt while the car is "on". Is there a legit way to shut off the beep that's not covered in the manual?!

Just to reiterate, I do always wear my seatbelt which I believe everyone should. When I pull into my alley and into tight spots I need to be free of it and that beeping is VERy obnoxious. So enjoy!

Also if someone else posted this then props to them. I didn't go back and read the entire thread.

Do you have a picture by any chance?

I would think you'd need some kind of vendor status on here before posting something like this...

Either way you can easily make your own or just go to the junkyard and cut a few of these off of wrecked Lancers.

After reading through all these pages and only getting quick fixes that would endanger the driver, is there a safe solution to disable the seatbelt chime (more like horn).

I used to own an AUDI and the dealer was able, though the VAG interface, disable the chime and it has no side effects like airbags not popping out etc..

Does anyone with MUT experiance know if that is possible ?

Just turn your radio up louder lol ^_^ j/k.... for real though, if you have a race harness you can either buy/find a seat belt clip (there not that expensive if you do buy it) and plug it in to the other end or if your not going to use the stock seat belt any more just remove the belt and the clip and plug the clip in the other end (after you take the clip off of the belt that is =P..)

I just did this and it was easy. I taped it up and zip-tied it under the seat. I had to remove the seat belt from the seat by taking off the single large bolt in order to figure out the clip. You have to press in a point on the other side of the assembly to get the clip to release. This is easy, clean and reversible (don't know why you would bother to reverse it though).

I just read this crap and wanna say that this thread was totally hijacked by IDIOTS who think just because they can reproduce they have a right to be parents.... I'm sure their kids will grow up just like them - luckily for the rest of us, we're not being raised in those households.

Many of us want to disable this chime without a temporary or otherwise "rigged" fix and I'm one of them. I always wear my seatbelt when I'm driving so there. For those preaching, I'd consider the following scenarious before spewing your crap on this thread:

1. Harnesses - some people UPGRADE their factory belts - what now smartypants?
2. Slugs - some people don't upgrade their belts so slug may be inconvenient to be swapping in and out.
3. Phone calls - some of us who have JOBS answer the phone and pull over to take notes... guess what - WE CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING because of the stupid chime!!!
4. Parking / Visibility - Many have concerns about having full visibility when parking etc.
5. Opinion - Keep it to yourself if it doesn't solve the issue that the OP seeks a solution for
6. Solution - No one wants to weed through your comments in order to find a 2 sentence solution...
7. ATM - the chime is very distracting when withdrawing or depositing money- the sound of the engine running is ok since it's quiter than the chime and lets your ears detect abnormalities

Friggin nags I swear - blah, blah your gonna kill yourself if you don't wear your belt.. waaa, waaa. WE KNOW. That's not what this thread was about so thanks for "CHIMING" in... congrats, you're almost as annoying as the stupid seat belt chime itself.

That's too funny... things like this make me want to drive my RX8 instead. At least is doesn't play mommy with me suggesting I wear my seatbelt when the car isn't moving.

I like the carbon fiber insert idea. Seems easy.

If I don't wear my seatbelt I die, why the f**k do you care what happens to me?

on ebay you can buy the little metal part that goes into the female end of the seat belt
thus solving the chime problem

Skip ebay, just get a spare buckle from any car in a junk yard and plug it in.

But shorting the 2 wires in the buckle is super easy...
