A hot day and my fingers did the trick.

I did mine with goo gone and it came out great but I rushed it a little while using a soft pastic scraper and was pressing too hard. It slightly dented the middle where the diamond was. Barely noticeable but I can see it.

The sheet metal on the middle of the trunk is VERY thin FYI.

I used fishing line without heating it, and it came off real easy. I just scratched the remaining sticky stuff off with my finger and used a little goo gone to make sure.

My car is six years old. I bought it a year ago. Would it be wise to debadge my trunk emblems? Meaning will I have some sort of discoloration of the paint.

I think I took my VIII's badges off around 2 years and there were slight discolorations so you could see the outline of clean paint underneath where I took the badge off, but it eventually sort of blended. That was on a white car though. I think a darker color wouldn't be noticeable.

I would recommend clay barring your whole trunk and then do a wax and polish again.

Here is a pic of my trunk, I did this today. I used a hair dryer on warm and low settings. Alternating with High after warm and it worked like a charm. Then took my dental floss and it came off with ease. I used my fingers to roll away any excess goo (don't use your nails) Afterwards, I used 3M's Adhesive remover followed by a clay bar of the area I debadged and wax, then detail spray. If you're having a hard time with the goo after the emblem is removed apply more heat with the hair dryer.

Did mine today...4500 miles/3months of ownership and only up close can you see outline of letters. Going to wash/polish/wax this weekend and should clean it up.

Did mine last weekend. Fishing line, goo gone, finger nail wrapped in a microfiber cloth to dig out the junk left over, followed by clay bar with lots of detailer spray (make sure you use the clay bar the right way... not dry!), followed by coat of synthetic wax (your pick).

I just removed the mitsubishi and lancer badge and i used the goo gone to loosen up the tape and then peeled the remaining tape and then went over it again with goo gone.
