I dipped my X back in October, turned out pretty good. Its the Koi Orange base and i just added some black till i got this Pumpkin Orange color. Local body shop told me $500 to fix the few scratches and dings from last winter and dipping my car turned out to be a little cheaper. Its held up pretty good so far in Alaska winter, i run in through the wash with no issues and no peeling.

I'm very impressed with the results. For someone like me who lives in the north east, just a nice ding is $200+. To do the whole car for a few hundred is what's up. I wanted to do mine, you have inspired me.

Curious what happens to the gap between the panels. After you've sprayed across panels, does the dip get into the gap and coat the paint underneath? For example the b pillar between front door, and back door. I'm just concerned since you need 4-5 coats to be able to peel off, the body under the gap wouldn't get that thick of an application. So you wouldn't be able to peel it off?

So I just dipped the middle of my factory aero front lip. I feel like this how the car should have come from factory (the look, painted). Now on to debadging.

Vinyl wraps

Ive been wanting to change the color of my X and I'm thinking I might go with a vinyl wrap.

something like this http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...294576348&rt=d

I'm not sure I really have the skill to try to do it myself, so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with getting a wrap done, and how much I would expect to pay. I plan to leave the hood, roof, and trunk black, so the wrap would be for the doors, front and back bumper, and sideskirts.

For a quality wrap for a full car I was quoted 1500-2000, so for u depending also on area and how experienced the person is doing it I would venture to say at least 1k.

a full vinyl wrap isn't cheap - depending on the material I've been quoted up to 3k$ - but keep in mind that to do it RIGHT you still have to prep the car like you would for paint, bumpers have to come off, door handles, lights, etc - just no sanding - however someone who knows wrapping will likely either wax the car first or ask you to have it waxed, that will help with having a smooth surface and much easier removal when necessary.

Im trying to get my roof done in gloss black. Everyone has quoted me $300 for just the roof. I might buy the vinyl and try it myself.

Plastidip'd front lip of oem aero kit

How's it going guys. I have the factory aero kit and didn't like how the white cut off the "black hole" portion on my x. I had a couple cans of plastidip layin around a friends house so I got to work! Here's before and after. Took about an hour for multiple coats and drying etc.

What do you guys think? Yay? Nay?

Looks like a good job from the picture. I want a front lip that covers the black part.
