Given that we've read a car after it sat in the parking lot for more than an hour, I would guess that they continue to send once every two minutes all the time. If after a few minutes you haven't gotten a reading, roll it around and try again. At least, that's what I'd do.

As to the possibility of a car having two or more sensors with the same ID, that seems very doubtful, but I guess it's possible. More likely, to me, if the possibility of the person reading the IDs making an error, such as not actually reading a new ID, but reporting an old one for a second time.

Some shops have the ability to get that info thru your obd II

Yep - after a long talk with a tech at Sens-It , it seems that the duplicate codes are either user error in reading the codes or the reader picking up a wheel twice. Either way the codes should be different in all 4 wheels.

Just came from goodyear and they ended with 2 sensors with the same ID. I told the guy that there should be 4 unique codes and he said that he has encountered a car with two of the same IDs more than once.

Does anyone know what the dealer charges for checking the codes, if they even do that ?

The local Discount Tire said they have sensors and can clone my sensors. $60 each. Those should be fine.

I've never seen one in person, but a programmable 315 MHz sensor is a programmable 315 MHz sensor, so the answer is undoubtedly Yes.

What we really need is for a place like The Tire Rack - are you listening Neal? - to offer these installed in new sets of tires-on-wheels. We send the IDs; they send us the mounted tires. Now, that would be a huge step forward.

I would like to know if anyone has got this option working. I am trying the Discount Tire route without much luck. They cloned me some EZ sensors put them on and I still got the warning light. I went back they reset the sensors but the light never went out.

They don't really seem to know what they are doing or have any ideas how to make it work.

Anyone have some thoughts?

If you're asking if anyone has figured out how to change the IDs on OE sensors, the answer is No because they aren't reprogrammable.

That the employees at Discount Tire can't actually clone a set of OE sensors is not very surprising to me.

Suggestion:

Get the IDs for your OE sensors (which can be read by almost any shop) and then hook up with one the members of this site that is willing to program sensors for you at little extra cost. Then have these installed in your wheels.

I had N.G.S. clone my OEM sensor IDs for me and mounted them up last night. 45 miles on the car and no TPMS warning light so far. After 3 years of looking at the warning all winter I am really excited to have this issue resolved.

Discount could not even read my sensors. I went ti Firestone and they had a SnapOn TPMS3 tool that was able to read my sensors and give me the IDs. I sent these with payment to N.G.S. and he programmed and sent out to me very quickly.

I had discount install them (for free since I had bought a set of tires the week before).

I have been looking for a solution like this since I bought the car and this seems to have done the trick!

I have over 7k miles on three different tire sets - slicks, wets and daily's each with it's own set of the alligator sens it sensors and I have zero TPMS light issues when I swap out sets.

@ Spon - I'm happy to be of help!

I can confirm the Discount Tire sensors do not work on a 2011 Evo X. Discount used the "Schrader EZ-Sensor".

I took the car with the programed sensors to the dealer the ID numbers were correctly cloned but the car couldn't read them. The ODB reader was seeing a "ID read communication failure". They tried several things but couldn't establish communication. They printed me a screen shot if anyone wants more detail. Glad I went to the dealer no charge for the check and they even washed the car, to bad they want $80 to program new ID's to the car.

Time to contact N.G.S.
