ENOUGH SAID!
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
The M3 feels less raw than the Evo and the NA engine in stock form does lose out to a stock Evo in low end grunt, but once you get to the higher revs, it does seem to push harder.
The Evo makes me feel as one wif the car. I dunno of many cars that do.
The CSL on the other hand...

I have a feeling a lot of the M3 advocates haven't driven one more than just around the block. If you have a chance to drive an Evo vs. M3 for several hours, the choice will be painfully obvious. This is, of course, unless you're a badge snob. No getting over that one - the only reason ML350s exist...
I'll take the M3 thank you very much. Like I said before....must be getting old and starting to think all this is kinda rice. I know....not really consider rice if it goes, right? I am just at a point where I want my materialistic things to show where I am in life. So yea...I prefer to have a little bit of status, a bit of luxury, a bit of comfort. Truly, I love my EVO and I don't expect that from my EVO. But I know in a couple more years, I will be very willing to move on. Many will disagree but that's ok because once more...my opinion and no one elses.
I'm still looking for opinions if anyone has one?
Price is a concern of mine
everyone, thanks for all your input! i test drove (3rd time i've driven an evo) an evo yesterday and was not impressed with how harsh it was over bumps, how the gearbox felt, and the comfort of the seats
If i rationalize, the MR will cost me $38000 out the door, without leather, without navigation, etc
i've got a lead on a 04 BMW M5 with very few miles for in the neighborhood of $47,000, its got leather, navigation (DVD), on board computer, etc.
for an extra $9,000 i get both luxury and performance
i feel like if i buy the evo MR new i will not be happy with it a year from now
its too damn hard to make up my mind
i could always gamble on a used 03 evo, see how I like it, and pick up the M5 if i didnt like it a year from now

I have found out that many EVO owners buy the EVO with out knowing what they are putting themselves in. M3 is a nice fast car but when it comes to be compared with the MR handling and power the MR will ripe a new a$$hole for it. If you buy an M3 like my brother you are stock with (almost) the same power forever. I have been told many times by my tech friend who works in BMW dealership that there tranny is pc of **** and the engine is not what many people think (this guy been working on BMW for over 20 years). I am not saying the EVO is the best car because it not but if you wan speeeeedd go EVO if you want show off go M3 although I see many on the Streets.
U are comparing a Evo to a M3, so go with a m3 because a Evo is 95% performance.U did not like the seats in the Evo so I think u would prefer a car with more comfort.I know the M3's already have 2 recalls on there main bearings.
