It is NOT LAUNCH CONTROL, it is a rev limiter, and yes, it can be disengaged by unplugging it. make sure that you plug it back in when taking your car in for service.

on the VIII it the third plug up at the top. this plug is located on the back of the clutch pedal. it's a pain to get to. do a search if you want pictures. I'm not positive it is the same on the IX but I don't see why not.

I hope you observed the break-in period!!

What's that limit you to, 5k rpms? I'm surprised you can't get a decent launch at that rpm.

It actually does work as launch control. It allows you to always launch right at 5k rpm with some boost already built. I personally have never been able to cut a good 60' at the track using it, so I disconnect it, but there are several on here who use it for launch control on every launch and cut 60's as good as mine.

Yes, evolovinit, it limits you to 5k rpms while stationary with the clutch depressed and is not easy to get a good launch with...

yes i observed the breakin period , it has 1k on it now and yesterday i cut the oil filter apart and observed some break in metal in the paper just small pcs , take the paper and run it over a magnet , a lot of steel is bad , you will see the steel move as you run the oil filter elemint paper over the magnet , there always some bearing babbit, alumiun from piston skuff , there was some small curls of steel about 1/4 inch long iam concerned about, so i will cut another filter after another 500 miles as long as its not getting worse it ok, it you guys and gals want a part # from caterpiller its a sweet filter cutter ,works like a tubing cutter, using a cut off wheel only contanimates the element, buy the way my 5k launch almost stalls the enginei dont see how you can launch at 5 and spin the tires , you need some momentem, anyway witch wires are for the launch control??

make sure you unplug the plug that is furthest back( you will probably be upside down, so i mean rear of car), and not the other plug w/ is connected to the clutch start switch.
