10 psi with e-01?
10 psi with e-01?
Hi, just bought a 2003 evo viii last week. It already has several mods done to it, including a greddy e-01 ebc. Problem is that it will only go up to 10-11 psi in any gear. Its not an indication thing, because it is slower than it should be. I dont know a whole lot about turbos but from looking at the manual, the e-01 appears to be hooked up right. I've heard that the wastegate spring pressure is around 10-11 psi so i'm thinking that possibly the greddy solenoid is blown? Anyone know any way to troubleshoot this further?
Thanks
Thanks
hahaha, i know what is wrong with ur ebc. I waste 3 months of my life with that piece of ****. The short version of my suggestion, sell it and get something else. u wont be able to get it to work. u have an old version and the softwear is no good with the evo. lol. I wish someone would tell me that when I had it. Now i just save u 3 months of work, what prize do i get?

The E-01 is an excellent unit that has many features that most other boost controllers on the market do not. Specifically for the stock turbo Evo, the RPM offset is a great asset. It is not the simplest unit to use, however.
If you are only seeing 10-11 PSI, you probably have the boost controller set to OFF. You want the unit set to Manual, not Auto.
Start out with the "Start Boost" at approximately 2 PSI less than your target boost. Start with the "Gain" set to 10. Begin with your "Set Boost" value at 10, start a datalog, and do a 3rd or 4th gear pull. Rinse and repeat until you have the boost where you want it.
When you are ready to mess with RPM Offset to hold ~21 PSI over 7K RPM, let me know and I can help you out with that.

Yeah, like I said earlier, ive changed all the settings in the menu and it doesnt change anything. The boost controller is set to manual, and is on. Which is why I was thinking perhaps a solenoid, or a software problem like cityhugo suggested.

Alright, after quite a while of being stumped by this one, and much researching, me and a friend discovered this. Looks like the actuator is jammed in the open position. Also, does anyone know if it is supposed to be bending at that angle? I know there is a bend in it but i thought it was kind up and towards the turbo. Anyways, i have a new forge WG actuator and am just waiting for a day off to put it in. Hopefully this will fix it. I'll post when I get it installed an try it out.
